What sort of items causes battery drain apart from alarms and engine management systems

Radios/infotainment systems can sometimes not switch off (ie go into deep sleep mode) when the vehicle is parked. And the classic one is a faulty door switch that fails to turn off a light in the boot, locker or glove compartment.

My van has two Cigar Lighter plus at the front.

One is live when the ignition is on, the other is permanently live.

Both run from the engine battery, so if I leave the MiFi power lead plugged in it will add to the battery drain.

Not sure if it’s a myth but the cold seemed to kill off my starter battery. Turned the van over one week, not the next. Don’t think using it to start the van and only running for a short time helped replace what had been used to crank it.

At 0'c a battery loses around 25% efficiency, so yes in cold weather it will struggle more.
