How easy is it to replace this battery?
Been up to motorhome in storage today not been up for a few months to find starter motor dead and so are leisure batteries despite having a solar panel and battery master.
Oh well own fault, should have checked on it before now.
Manged to jump engine but even after 30 mins rumning its till dead wont re start.
Current starter battery is a bosch so prob will replace like for like, its 5 years old.
Anything inparticular I need to be aware of.
Prob leave it for now due to lockdown then change before next use.

Easy to find & pretty easy to replace.
Remove the red plastic 'key' to get the +Ve block off.
Ask again if you have difficulty.

If it's physically the same size with the terminal in a like for like position it should be okay.

Remember to read your vans instruction manual, there is usually a specific sequence for connecting the battery to help stop damaging the vans electronics.

I don't wish to highjack this thread but I have a question. The one picture in Techno's how to thread shows a metal cover over the battery bay. My 2015 (290 I think) does not have that. The rubber matting just sits above it. Is my van missing a part?

Before you buy a battery - were you trying to charge from the alternator? Did you disconnect the jump before the alternator started to work as it needs to be "excited" before it will put out any charging current. It's recommended that you leave the jump source connected for a short while to get something into your flat battery before relying on the vehicles own charging system.

Just a thought - you might be trying to charge ALL your batteries, depending on how your system works - can you isolate the leisure side?

In all fairness if the batteries are completely flat you've probably caused permanent damage but sometimes you may be lucky and can get away with it. I would plan on replacing sooner rather than later, though, but at least it'll avoid the danger of doing the same with new batteries.

My 2015 van also has not got a metal cover , I think they were only fitted to earlier ones.

I fitted a new vehicle battery on Saturday. Easy but HEAVY. Remember the radio code. The immobiliser should have a back up battery so hopefully it'll be fine.
Good luck and watch your back as the battery is awkward to lift out.
