Thanks, I didn't realise that was a Mini, mine is a gen 3 (y)
I use my Gen 3 up against the sky light. I just bent a couple of pieces of white uPVC facia panel that slide down inside the sky light 'frame', use a hair dryer or hot air gun ...

We use that in 2 days streaming TV and surfing

I use a lot more than that bud some people don’t go on holidays to watch tv and need internet access but an extra 50GB for free is a win, win.
Unfortunately some of us can't afford a proper holiday where we can drink and do a activities every day and not watch tv at all. (y)

But then I don't class my 250 days away in France/Spain/Portugal this year as a holiday.:giggle:

Registered in France. So Unlimited is cheaper anyway. But as you say an extra 50 gb is helpful in the right circumstance.

New prices across the board.
£35 for 100GB a month.
£55 for unlimited non prioritised access.
£75 for prioritised unlimited access.
Is that roam?

I thought it was residential

Tesco sim 100GB £30 in the eu although not sure if that can just be topped up when that's used up or it is based on a month's max usage? Not sure I would like a starlink unit covering up my skylight Cann't you put it on the roof?

Definitely not a like for like comparison and you can put the starlink wherever you want to.

If roof windows open I chuck it on the roof

Residential. But the top one comes with a free mini for travel.
But I assume you would have to take out a roaming contract in addition to the residential one in order to make use of the free Mini?

I think somwone said this would be at a discounted price but I can't find the reference to that now.

as we are too remote at home we cannot get full fibre I have be interested in this Starline post. A couple of questions that may have already been covered off in the 3, 800 odd posts.
1. If I have a residential Starlink I can get a Starlink mini free.
2. The residential unit is great for normal streaming, ie Sky sports and all the other stuff like the alarm system, heating system etc?
3. When using the mini remotely ie in the motorhome the data isn’t stopped or compromised on the residential unit?
4. The mini cannot be permanently connected to the motorhome roof - or can it?
If you run over the 100gb on the mini it doesn’t matter you still get more.
You can pause the mini for say 6 months of the year when you pay a minimum amount each month?
Apologies for these quite basic of questions

I have a mini attached to my roof, no problems at all, so much smaller than satellite dishes I had on previous vehicles.

The other option is just get one dish and use it on roam, partly at home and partly when travelling.

1. Good deal that!
2. Will work like a 300mb fibre service.
3. You will need two subscriptions. The home will remain live, you pause the mini and pay the nominal monthly charge when not in use.
4. Yes it can. I even saw a tilting actuating mount on Facebook the other day.

Worth raising again though, unless of course he is supported?

It always feels like a moot point. There is no viable competition for Starlink; assuming you have a use case that requires ubiquitous connectivity in either a non fibre residential area, or more likely, considering the forum we are discussing it on, when travelling.

Unlimited £25 pcm on 24 mth contract looking at Tesco tonight. Still 100gb payg for £30

How many of you starlink users have had reception problems when surrounded by trees or other obstacles?

It is perfectly feasible to have a Starlink mounted on the roof, and I think a cleaner solution than hanging in a skylight and having to move it to open the skylight. You just need to get a cable through the roof which is not that difficult, though if you don't t want to use it while on the move you could just feed the cable through a window while parked.

I have my Mini in a magnetic mount semi-permanently on the roof and have a cable through the roof so use it while in motion. This saves all the faff with SIM data allowances, fair use policies, mobile coverage, etc, especially travelling in Europe. Most SIMs have data limits in the EU, and even 100 GB per month would be very limiting if like us you watch Netflix movies, and F1 and football on Sky while away.

I do have an unlimited data iD SIM for £15 per month (though limited to 30 GB in the EU) and use it in a mifi device as backup for the Starlink, and for short trips where it is not worth paying to unpause the Starlink for a month.
