Hi, all, anybody come across this before, my sprinter-based Autotrail's brakes make a "squeaking/howling " noise when I RELEASE the brake pedal, touch the pedal and the noise stops till it is released again. Seems to happen after a longish run mostly, but can also happen more or less anytime. Any ideas? Dust? sticky caliper? or maybe an illegal? (but not been abroad yet!)
Cheers, Dave:censored:(y)

Hi Dave had a similar problem on my 2004 ducato drove me mad !
Every time I just applied a touch of pressure on the breaks it stopped, checked for warped discs and a lot more, in the end turned out the pads had glazed.
They were the original pads and once changed the problem was cured.
Hope this helps.

Yep sounds like your pads have gone shiny take them out rub with sandpaper and refitt

Or it could also be dry shims ....The back of the pad where it touches the caliper piston should have a light coat of copper ease also the shoulders they slide on

2 main causes for squeeky brakes

As above, or the pistons are very slightly sticking.
Brake pressure will hold the pads in solid contact with the disc so they cant vibrate....if the pads are sticking theres not enough pressure to prevent it.
