His all

Just seeking the views of others with regard to the most suitable oil for my Sprinter.

Last year I did an oil change and went for a 5W-30 Mercedes fully synthetic low ash that I found at a very good price on ebay. A year on I'm looking at doing it again shortly but not sure if I'm currently going with the best oil for my engine. I'm almost certain that I don't have a DPF (can't see one and sooty exhaust) so I'm thinking a semi synthetic would be better suited and maybe a 15W-40.

I'd be interested to know or get any recommendations on what others with the same engine as me are using? This is what I got from ebay last year.

Cheers Dave

I had my 2.7 serviced by a local Merc truck dealer and they put in MB228.5 which I think is 10W-40.
Whether that's the right one -time will tell!

Once apon a time the saying went, Oil is cheaper the metal!
After millions of investment in oil research the major oil lubricant companies produce data sheets and recommendations for suitable oils for the vehicle.
That is my first starting point.
