Hi everyone, we are soon to go on our first trip to France with our MH, does anyone know if there are speed limits for under 3500kg towing a small trailer? We have been to France many times before, but only with a motorbike or campervan. Over here anything over 3000kg has lower speed limits than cars, is it the same in France?

Thanks

John

Don't forget to use towns and villages as cities and go 50 kph max and occasionally 30 kph.

Set your Sat nav to KPH. Most will not only show your speed in KPH but warn if over the limit.
Mine does. I use it as the speedo. Even in France the speed limit changes right on the speed signs.

No the limits are flat out same as the cars. I was amazed when I first came across it. Thought it was the same 50mph( (80 kph ) EU wide. Should be as most of them forget the trailer/caravan is on back & will take you out unless you are watching & with your hand always on the air horns,

Thank you everyone. I will have to be careful. I wonder if it has changed the French drivers attitude, I remember the first time when I was driving at about 90 mph and was overtaken by a car towing a caravan doing over 100 mph. We are not planning to drive more than 300 miles a day, so it won't be too bad.
