Hi, not being happy not having a spare wheel and knowing very little about the technicalities of wheels/tyres, can anyone help please. I advertised here for a spare and a nice lady responded. I’d like to buy her spare wheel, but I showed my local tyre dealer a picture of one of our van wheels, a picture of the proposed donor spare wheel and he went off into the kind of theory I wouldn’t have expected from a tyre fitter. My eyes glazed over and I started dribbling a little bit, then left non the wiser. Could any expert here please look at the attached photos and determine whether or not these wheels are interchangeable. Two are of the donor wheel. Thanks.

If you look at the tyre size is 225/65 compared to the others 215/75. That is the difference I spotted. It needs to match what you got on the van running, otherwise the abs will play up, due to different circumference of tyre.

You need to look at the part numbers on the wheel and make sure you get one with the correct load rating.
When I was looking for a rim for my Fiat based van I found a lot of the aftermarket rims didn't have sufficient load rating.
Also if you travel to mainland Europe it is best to have the spare shod with the same tyre as the road wheels. If you call the breakdown services out to change a wheel in France & Spain (also Portugal I think) if the tyre is different they won't fit it, you will have to buy a new tyre or possibly two so they are the same on the same axle.

Thanks guys, all I’m looking for is a spare I can change myself in the event of a puncture, just something safe enough to get us to a garage without using Fords horrible gunk kit!

I’m in the same boat, my new to me 530 came with the spray can of foam. My tyres are 235s. I will get a transit rim and buy a new tyre. You maybe able to get a rim from the local scrappy as they are really common. Obviously you need a 16” rim and a 235 tyre. Good hunting.

Thanks Dan, think it’s going to be the scrappy, wire brush, red oxide and a new matching tyre.

I have managed to get spare wheels from Scrap yards before, some like new. I normally put new tyres on for peace of mind. Remember the (PCD) measurement for the stud holes look on Y tube. I’m just waiting for the yards to open up here to get a wheel. I hate travelling without a spare, but with a 530 space is a premium.
