Hi,

anyone have a recommendation for a well priced spare gas regulator. I have a monocontrol cs in place and would like to have something to be able to put in for a short period of time if the monocontrol gives trouble. Given the amount of posts of them gumming up etc it seems prudent to have.

Thanks

A bottle top regulator and a flexible pipe would be cheapest and could guarantee to fit.

Hi
I use and sell the Cavagna 424 rv regulators .
Pretty much bulletproof we buy them by the hundreds and many manufacturers like Burstner fit them as standard .
Available and in stock in 8 or 10 mm straight or angled.

This,

My regulator died on my last Scotland trip :-(. I had a bottle top regulator (£8) and 3mtrs of hose with a quick release bayonet fitting on the end (pop into the BBQ point), I was up and running in 5 mins once I’d worked out what had happened.

Regards

Jim

In the meantime I found https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/no-gas-full-bottle.221768/ which does answer some questions.

I need to look at how I would connect in a regulator to my existing set up. Not drag and drop as one needs to be careful when dealing with energy!! Simple answer is pick up a bottle top regulator like https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191844988294 but slightly more complicated answer involves bits like https://gasproducts.co.uk/gas-fitti...fulham-gas-hose-nozzle-x-8mm-compression.html to make sure connecting into gas distribution safely.

I need to investiage my own set up first and ask more specific questions.

Thanks to all so far

Most cylinder mounted regulators are only single stage so don’t have the necessary safety features.
Also not the correct operating pressure for most modern leisure vehicles.

Even with the bulkhead regulators the only one with a crash sensor is the Truma, if you only want a back up as a spare no problem with a bottle top regulator just need to turn the gas off before traveling.

What makes you say that?
30 mb bottle top regulators have been around since at least 2002.
When I bought my first new van in 2008 it had 30 mb bottle top regulator. German vans still fit them unless the Truma bulkhead is speced or an option.
I carry a 30mb bottle top regulator as a backup.

I stand to be corrected but none of our suppliers have any 30 mbar cylinder mounted regulators .
Just realised you probably got yours in Germany or the continent as you will struggle to find a UK supplier .
Truma only rebadged the GOK equipment but they are now using a different manufacturer.
Crash safe or regulators with that option are available from other manufacturers too .
I was actually really referring to the over pressure cut off function on a 2 stage regulator that most bottle mounted regulators available in the U.K. definitely don’t have .
