Sorry if this is yet again a question on the speed limit for MH :h:500 Kg in Spain but Mr Google is not telling me the same answer in different threads. There does seem to be a part consensus however, that the max speed on any road in Spain for a :h:500Kg MH is 100KPH. The following comes up when Google is asked "what is the max speed for a Motor home in Spain"

"Speed. In Spain, motorhomes :)h:500 kg) are seen as category 1 (M1) vehicles, and because of this, different speed limits apply to them outside of urban areas. A motorhome is not allowed to drive faster than 100 km/h in Spain."

Eurocamping and Comfort Insurance sites also seem to believe in a 100kph max speed limit.

I can not seem to find a definitive Spanish Gov statement on this issue. Anyone out there found out exactly what the legal position is now??????

Edit - no idea why I have the red hearts replacing the "less than 3" I typed in? :h:5 should say less than 3500Kg. As for the smiley??????????

Driving through from Burgos to Haro yesterday Spain seems to have changed many of the speed limits brand new replacement signs everywhere. Many villages now down to 40kmh, normal roads (non dualled) 70 or 90kmh

Seen the attachment thanks Wiljoy but not sure it answers the question. It does state "Small motorhomes" and this could be taken to be less than 3500Kg but it could also be "campervans". Does this chart override the statements on other sites? Someone mentioned that there had been a change of heart by the Gov following some campaigning but which is definitive?

The law changed in January to allow higher speed limits for sub 3500kg motorhomes - https://www.autofacil.es/autocaravanas/2019/01/21/autocaravanas-podran-circular-120-kmh/48383.html

Steve, Thanks for this link - this does seem to state that 120kph is indeed the speed limit on Motorways and so long as the motorhome is less than 3500Kg it only has to comply with the limits set for cars. The designation of M1 category for these motorhomes does seem to be at odds with the statement in my original post. And out of interest, if you "ask Google" it comes back with the 100kph figure! It does go to show that you have to be very careful what you believe from the www even when the sites should be authoritative.

The information about Spanish speed limits is all over the place. After confusing myself for a couple of hours in February this year, I eventually found up to date info from the Spanish road authority that says < 3.5t motorhomes have the same limits as cars for all types of roads.

And then after actually spending 6 weeks driving around Spain, it's completely irrelevant. Everyone does 20-40 km/h over the speed limit everywhere anyway. If you stick to the limits, you'll have cars, vans and even HGVs trying to pass you. Thankfully Spanish drivers are fast, but also generally very patient. Manjana manjana.
