Thanks to the funsters on here I was aware of 20c a litre discount in Spain so yesterday I pulled into a Repsol somewhere south of Alicante and there was a paper sign on the pump indicating 30c discount.
Any I topped up and duly paid, as I walked towards the door I noticed I hadn’t received the discount.

So back to the cashier where he duly apologised and rectified the matter.

In my eyes this was no accident as he would have been awarding the discount every 3-5 mins.

His reason I don’t know as I can’t see how he would stand to gain. Possibly got umbrage with english speaking customers.

Stay sharp guys and gals.

For info the bill dropped from €86 to €74 so not to be sniffed at

I thought myself that would be an easy scam but I filled up twice before leaving Spain and the receipt clearly showed the discount, but obviously if you pay cash without a receipt you are leaving yourself open to being ripped off,

I had this the other day, got nowhere with the attendant so an email is going to be winging it's way to head office about it, that she spilt loads on the ground and splashed my trousers too.

Good luck!

Did you ask for a complaints form at the time?
Yes but of course all in Spanish so instead of filling out then I removed it and the copies from the pad so can still do it.

Yhere is nor requirement to fill it in in spanish . any language from english, french, german spanish is acceptable. It should be in triplicate , one for you one for them one for the consumer org.es Unless in cataluña wher its has a 4th copy for another gov.es organistaion

We have topped up three times since arriving and have had no problems so far. Discount applied each time.(y)

I'd be surprised if they can fiddle it. I used to write till software and was quite safe.
Unless they've built in an override option.

I still don't see why they show the higher price, rather than what yer gonna pay.

Because if nothing changes when the discount disappears on 1st July they don't want the moaning that "fuel has gone up 20c overnight "

Also what you have to remember is that the 20c discount is applied as 5c from the company and 15c from gov.es.
If you are a sole operator or small independent you are having to swallow a 5% mandatory discount.
My local garage used to sell at 15c less than all competitors. They removed this before the 20c discount was introduced as they had an inkling of what was going to happen.
As the owner said many solo's and independent s have very low profit margins and could go out of business over it.
He also pointed out that my station, costs him 12,500€/week as his share of the discount but he also has to "fund" the gov.es share ,albeit on a monthly basis,to the tune of 37,500€/week. This is one of 4 he and his brothers own but the other 3 don't sell fuel on the scale this one does.

Am a Mastercard user in Catalunya and get just the 20cent discount automatically from the pump's payment system. Was wary of it to begin with cos the prices displayed are not those that you pay. Depending on the payment/loyalty card you carry and the station you visit, the prices can vary (in my limited local area) experience from 12-16cents per litre so it's very clever to shop about. In certain areas of Catalunya, I recommend Bonpreu/Esclat filling stations (I'm not being paid to recommend them!!). If you can get their card, you get a discount, and if you go after 10pm and before 8am, you get 2cents extra off!

Whilst filling up with petrol today, diesel with the wayapp was €1.15 a litre (including the Repsol €0.30 Repsol/ES/wayapp discount.

I make that 95p a litre.

I paid €1.70 a litre for 98 octane petrol, would have been €1.65 with the app if I could get it to work .

€1.50 for 95 octane petrol (£1.25)

What are the current UK prices?

Are you sure you read the price right for diesel as I've finally found it but it's around €1.78 a litre so less 30c that would be €1.48 a litre, not €1.15?

My wife spotted it on the board outside , maybe it was a mistake ?. But we went to Auchan in Haro, they listed petrol at €1.85 but it was €1.62 at the pump

UPDATE!
They did it again today north of Zaragoza,
This time the attendant went into a bit of a tizzy and cleaned his two QR codes, lifted the card reader and slammed back down then him and his assistant got into what I could describe a role play argument to convince myself and other customers that it was a genuine mistake. Anyway I was refunded the discount but surely this is either company policy or the staff have a system to line their pockets.
In conclusion be very wary if buying fuel at Repsol.

EuroTrotters . To answer your query I saw the sign at the pump and the discount is normally 25c a litre but with the Waylet app you get 30c.

Stay sharp folks

I couldn’t do it for some reason. But I would suggest you try the waylet app for the extra 5 cents a litre if you can.
I tried to register but UK mobile number s can't be entered.

Just got diesel near Salamanca at GMOil €1.717 less 20c = €1.517, happy with that.
