Greetings all,

Can anyone explain, in simple terms, how the discount works in a practical sense.

This particularly applies should we use a 24/24hrs automatic fuel stop where there is usually no human interaction.

I also understand that the various 'brands' have their own enhanced systems.

Any assistance gratefully received. Thank you.

Exactly, the sign board prices are the gross. I use a self service pump up the road and it just does the math.

As above...the automated pumps are generally operated by the smaller companies/retailers..The price at the pump is the price you pay...
There are other means and other discounts in operation...but your question was aimed at unmanned Stations.

As above. However we have come across some auto stations in Benidorm and Benissa where the discount is dispensed as extra fuel.
You preset and pay for 50 euros on the pump (approx 25 litres at 2.00 euros a litre) it's not this much at the moment by the way!!
It will actually give you the discount of 20 cents per litre in fuel on top of the prepaid amount.
So you would get an extra 5 euros of fuel.
Just look at the pump price when it's working and if it shows the same as the display board then this system is in operation.
The problem occurs when you set full on the pump and fill it to the brim. If you don't get to your card preset limit then you won't get the extra fuel.
We found out the hard way😡
The cheapest here is around 1.79 euro before discount as it is on the way back up again 🤭

".but your question was aimed at unmanned Stations."

But not exclusively.

OK...Repsol and Cepsa offer additional discounts, but inflate there base price....their web sites explain their offers....like I've mentioned before Waylet...or Cepsas equalivant
Although I am a Waylet customer, I get a better deal at the small independent outlets..for simplicity as a visitor to Spain I suggest this....savings vary from region to region....the best I managed in September was 1.51€ in Asturias...A fuel based app is worth downloading...
