I found this link on a Facebook page. It makes rather worrying reading, requirements for accommodation, return tickets and €90 per day per person ( €5400 per couple for a month! ) looks like I’ll be leaving SWMBO behind!, still, it may keep the lager louts out.

I’m wondering where the checks on a person’s financial standing take place. If driving through France to Spain there are no border checks. Perhaps the French check on Spain’s behalf ?

I won’t worry too much about it for now.

Having read it through it is a 2016 regulation that they could use whenever they don't like your face! Not Brexit specific.

It's been in place well before that.
We got stopped on the Spanish border in 1985 and despite having all the legal documents had to prove that we had enough money to support ourselves.

We showed we had a couple of hundred quid in cash ( that probably being more than the Customs guy earned in a month at the time), that was not enough, it was only when I got out my emergency $1,000 US dollar Travellers Cheques, were we allowed in.

I still have the emergency $1,000 dollar travellers cheques, They have been carried around the world ever since.

Only time will tell, however means of support will come to the fore no doubt.
