Hi,
Heading down to Spain in few weeks and around France later in year. Not ready to go down refillable route yet. Will a spanish pass thru adapter (jumbo and appropriate pigtail) that fits spanish bottles also fit French ones or must I get a French adapter too? If so, are the empty bottles interchangeable for replacements if I pickup a used one in spain at a Chinese shop or market??? Thanks....

No. The Spanish jumbo adapter does not fit the French bottle. Also be wise to buy the jumbo adapter here in UK before the trip, they seem harder to obtain in Spain.
Regulators are everywhere but not the adapter.

We arrived in Spain a week Ago and have not been able to buy the high pressure hose yet, but I can fill up less than 3 miles up the road if I drive up there it looks like we should get 3 weeks out of 2x11kg bottles Gaslow

Sorry know nothing about the french bottles. Posts on here in the past seem to suggest it's pretty easy to buy French bottle and the pigtails needed. šŸ‘
When I used to use the Spanish bottles I always left Spain with a full bottle as it's cheap enough.

A large French bottle (about 13kgs) is readily buyable at a French supermarket and has an outlet that can be fitted to the end of a UK butane pigtail (ie a left hand threaded 21.8 Pol, female)
All you need to do is buy that pigtail before your trip, screw one end into your Regulator and screw the other end onto the bottle.
That same pigtail will screw onto the Jumbo ADAPTOR if you decide to buy or obtain a Spanish bottle.

"21.8 lh pigtail and a 27mm Jumbo clip on adaptor

You do NOT!!! want a regulator.

Assuming your motorhome or caravan has a bulkhead Regulator in the gas locker (standard since about 2002) you require an ADAPTOR.
If you fitted a regulator on the Spanish bottle you would be regulating the flow of gas twice.
An adaptor is basically a shell without the internal gubbins (technical term) to allow you to connect the bottle to the Bulkhead Regulator.

I've changed my original post as well (for clarity)
Unfortunately I can't change the "quoted" post but I'm sure the OP has now got it that, if there is a bulkhead Reg. you need a Spanish ADAPTOR!!! Yes I know I'm shouting!!!

Pigtail fits direct onto french bottles (only the big ones)
The pigtail fits the Spanish Jumbo adaptor.

Here is the jumbo adapter in place on a Spanish Cepsa bottle in my previous van.
You dont seem to see this type about much now but the one in the second picture does the same job.
The thread takes a standard Butane pigtail as mentioned above, so pretty swopable (remember a spanner). (y) ;)

Thanks Tonka... going to get the adapter and pigtail today.... can you confirm if that's a 11kg (large bottle) and it's height and width? Struggling to find dimensions online and wondering if it will fit in my small locker..!! If not, then I will need a long pigtail, around 3 feet which Hamilton Do stock and keep bottle outside ...
