not long enough
why?

are you arriving in Spain at Santander or Bilbao?

edit - just spotted your location, guess that ferry route would make more sense for you, but still seems a long drive after a long ferry journey, nearly as far as driving from Calais direct to Barcelona

The road from San Sebastian (Donostia) to Pamploma is a fine if rather boring road. If you really want to enjoy travelling south in the Pyreneese, the road south from Irun is a little more attractive I think.

Arrive in Santander then going to Bilbao then to San Sebastián.
Have about 10 days before we need to be at F1 so was not sure which route to use. We went to Bilbao in 2015 used the aires overlooking city want to go back, did not get to visit San Sebastián have heard its worth a visit. Then not sure where to go and which route.

did a quick google map search, there doesn't appear to be a lot of choice, the Pyrenees have roads going straight through in a few places but generally not along the base, but with that much time, you can meander in and out of France and still be on time :)

have fun, I have fond memories of a trip to the Circuit du Catalunia for the GP in the early 90's with a couple of mates when we used to have much more spare cash :), got a motorhome now, cant afford such frivolities :)

Thanks Dave
Yep I looked at the map and thought the same. Went to Austrian F1 last year got hooked! Only do gen admission as gets very expensive.
Last year we managed 7 weeks this year have only 4 lol.
Will prob just take each day as it comes or just drove down to coast (south) depends on weather going end April.

Barcelona always used to be the best value, I think we paid under £100 each for full admission with grandstand and camping

Happy days :)

but then we spent about £1000 in ferries and fuel, left Wednesday night, home on Tuesday morning o_O

first race after Senna died :(

Sound like you had a good time, lucky bugger !!!! not as cheap today of course, gen admission though is less then €90 each from Thursday to Sunday camping was only £45. Ferry was just over £700 return still bloody expensive but better than driving to Dover and then through France. Nothing wrong with France but time was the problem this time.

Do you want to use the free road or the paid motorway? Going close to the Pyrenees the roads are good but narrow in places and there are a fair few villages. Stop in Haro if you can there are some great Bodegas there and delicious wine.. Aragon is beautiful and arrid but with very unusual and beautiful scenery. Enjoy the journey and your destination:drinks:

Thank you Pia
I will look at your route. Not wanting to use motorways. Not done Spain as such before apart from Bilbao on our way back to Plymouth so looking forward to new adventure
