Now retired and thinking we could do a trip at this time to use the van and get some better weather than the UK. We like to stay mainly on sites but happy with aires for the journey. Can anyone recommend a few sites in the south that are near enough a town to walk into and preferably have a dog friendly beach? Also any aires/sites that would be good for journey and any places worth calling into for a nice town/village/view/castle etc.

Give a few more details of your intended route and arrival ports and that will help with advice.

Since May 05 (Ex Tuggers).
Lizi. If you look in Resources, you'll see tonka's Western and Eastern routes, which includes suggested overnight locations.
To avoid possible bad weather, we use the Western route on the way down in January, and the Eastern route on the way back in March, trying to hold on to the best weather for as long as possible.

HTH,

Jock. :)

we will be using the tunnel and want to avoid bad weather so guessing that means avoiding the Millau route we have used for France. Never been to Spain before. Thanks Jock and Rita, I will check out the link!

Great resource. Was able to view it on my husband’s 10 year old iPad but not on my new one?? If we wanted to get as far as Malaga, would you suggest sticking towards the coast and going Murcia to Granada route? I’m assuming the centre of Spain is very cold and could have snow etc.

We are in front of you we leave mid December via the tunnel
We head for crossing into Spain via Hendaye/Hondarribia then Zaragoza to the AP7 to get along the Med Coast as we are initially booked into Benidorm for Christmas and New Year from there we head to Malaga (Area Malaga beach( area Autocaravanas))
I use Search for Sites to record my plans and always add more stops than I plan to use as back ups as you can see we are planning on ending up in Portugal on our 90 day trip

Thank you for help, I will take a look at search for sites as I didn’t know about it. Does anyone have any site suggestions for Malaga area within a walk of a beach (preferably dog friendly) and/or a walk of a town?
