Hi all,

I’ve read lots of posts but can’t find the answer I’m looking for.

We need to be around Bilbao on the 21st of July to pick friends up from the airport. We’re then staying in an apartment in SAN Vicente. We like a little bit of sun ( I can hear some of you laughing already ) but like to get away from it especially when parked up and don’t like to be anywhere too touristy or busy.
We have been dictated by friends holidays as usually travel now until June using AcSi and Stellplatz mostly in Germany.
Questions
1) Do we need to book campsites? Due to it being peak season.
2) Will it be unbearably hot? The oh is part vampire I think
3) Are we better off staying near Pyrenees because it will be cooler or by the coast?
4) any suggestions of places to stay would be much appreciated

I have a million other questions that I’ve been holding in my head but they will do for starters.

Thank you
Happy travels

Northern coastal Spain will be quite hot in July. Great time to visit that region.

Southern Spain is VERY VERY hot through July.
LUDICROUSLY hot. And utterly rammed.
Given to understatement I can see

We went along the north coast in August four years or so ago. We never booked although places were pretty busy and quite noisy - normally we got a place okay, the worst area for crowds was the far west coast near O Grove.

Pretty hot, although from camping days I have a very clear memory that the weather often starts fine but by mid afternoon it can be wet. Got a hint about this when we drove through a town and all the tourist shops had ponchos and umbrellas hung up outside!

We have had 20c and rain in mid August on the northern coast of Spain.

Every body who lives in central Spain was in the north enjoying the lower temperatures and we did struggle to find sites with room for us.

If you want to stay in the Picos i suspect u will need to book.

As soon as u drop south of the Picos the temps will rise alarmingly.

We had 38c at midnight near Caseras.

:gracias:
Thanks for your replies guys. Any info about places to stay - shade is a must and perhaps a pool to cool off in on the way across Spain would be good (y)
We may stay closer to Germany ( that’s where we usually go ) and then go on to Bilbao at the end of July.
Original plan was to go through Italy and onto Spain but think a different - less busy - time of year would be better.
Hope you’re enjoying the bank holiday :sun:
