Hi. can anyone recommend a site in Spain for us to winter say Dec/Feb.
Any help will be much appreciated. This will also be our first trip abroad .
Kind regards.
Mark.

Camping Roquetas is always popular.Near to beaches & The town.

Pinar San Jose, nr Conil de la Frontera, Andalucia, first class site for over wintering.

That's a difficult one, everyone is different and how far do you want to travel. :D
We spent many years on Camping Javea before moving here, but some prefer the other site Camping el Naranjal, busy enough but it's not Benidorm.
All the sites are busy, and only you can decide what you like. :D2

If it was me, I wouldn't book anything, because it could be your worst nightmare if you didn't like it, download park for night app, and get an acsi book, they come out in mid December with Vicarious books but you can buy them in Spain in some places.(y)
As you have never been travel down and explore, but you really need sites with little shade, and decent weather the Costa Blanca is normally good. (y)
You can get deals on long stays, but you have to find the site YOU want to stay On. Bob.

It very difficult to recommend a particular site as everyone's needs are different. We've tried many over the years but find Villasol in Benidorm suites us. It's quiet and has all the amenities required. Don't be put off because it's Beni as it's human in the winter months. Careful with wild camping as some areas give you on the spot fines. No matter where you choose it would be advisable to book now as they all get full.
Enjoy wherever you decide to park.

Camping El Quinto Mojacar for me - a small quiet site. Easily walkable to Mojacar Pueblo and the bus that takes you down to the playa is 100 metres from the site

Bob and Janie, thank you very much for your advice,we did want to book in advance, but having read many reviews it may be a try and see exercise.Although many sites are already booked up.
Regards Mark.

We found a significant number of coastal campsites full when turning up without a booking last winter.

But go just inland and there tends to be much better availability.

You don't need or want shade in the winter..Only probably 6 or 7 hours sun and it's only 20 degs probably..Much better than UK though.BUSBY.

If you book 2/3 weeks in four different sites with 2/3 nights between them for transit and wild ad-hoc camping, it won't be the cheapest but you get see and compare. We did this January thru March, stopping in four cities from Santander to Seville on the way to Bella Vista in Duquesa for 3 weeks, then Benidorm for 2 weeks and Accosebre for 3 weeks. Then home to Brittany in mid-March.

We booked the sites with Camping and Car****n club. Paid £890 for the booking, and had around 15 nights in aires en-route.

We were away from Dec 28 thru March 15.

Bonterra Park Beniccassim.

Again, book early.

In Feb they gave us a pitch for One Night. We might have managed a few more if we were prepared to move pitches every day.

But we went to Camping Eden, Peniscola, instead.

Yep, we've been going down south for the winter for 3 years now & had great weather this year. We spoke to some of the locals in southern Spain & Portugal & they said it was one of the best winters they've had on over a decade.

We had a few days of heavy rain in November last year and then the same over Easter this year. An odd shower on a couple of days in between and that was our winter!

It has been windy though.

We're in the Murcia region

We live there, Javea, Costa Blanca. That was an exeptional event. It started raining, in fits and starts, on the Thursday, after Easter, continuing through Friday and Saturday, no problems. On the Sunday it poured 13" of rain in no time at all, so it flooded. By Wednesday all roads were clear, and even on the Monday, on the promenade (left of photo is the back) you would not know it had happened.

We also had a week just after Christmas that was not so good.

We live there in Winter, on and off.

Whilst we are higher up than you (Pinomar/Pinosol/Val de Sol). We are south west facing. But we have had 80% Windy days, lots of rain and it’s been cold for us.
