Has anybody stayed on pleasure land touring park and was it ok ?

is it legal in the uk to use a home made towbar?
I'm home this bank holiday weekend, I know a lot of you are away. Please show us where you are by posting a pic of the outside taken from inside your van. Cheers
Yes Lilie is the German branding for sureflow. I just replaced the submersible in my Hymer with a Sureflow mounted it on 18 mm ply with 12mm car noise deading rubber underneath. Pump is screwed to the board, board is screwed to the floor.
Agree. Left a number of motorcycle forums, which at one time were a great information resource.
I’m all for open discussion but when people started to join them and were just being disruptive......it just became unpleasant.
Why do you all think this is good for the country?
It is good for people having holidays abroad taking money out of the uk, bad for our tourist industry (if it was open) who bring money into the country.
Good for foreign companies who import into the UK, bad for our exporters.
I export and this is bad for me. I get less money the higher the £ goes. This is money coming into the country and being spent here.
A strong £ is not a universal good.
Nextdoor to me the gardener starts at 0800 every sunday he has every petrol driven machine you can buy for gardening. Lucky im an early bird. Its too early and very noisy though!
and i'm a million percent certain Jim, if nothing happens to anyone, then some dickhead will make something up and post if on a facebook group that his mates mates uncles brothers, son in law has been jailed for 10 years and banned from the EU for 50 years just to cause a reaction, then it will have been read by 1000's and become "true" as its on the internet
I've spoken with SMC at length about the quality, etc of the glass.....apparently the pattern screens are often difficult to fit as the curvature of the screen in the bottom corners does not match exactly.....and glass doesn't bend well ! This invalidates the 10 year water ingress warranty.
It may well be the case that they are made in the same factory and then have the manufacturers logo painted on at a later date, but without it your water ingress warranty goes south for the winter.
So that you know your dates as well, as you do not have access to the digital record
Personally I'd have asked for a stamp from either France or UK, as it may avoid awkward questions on your return
According to my passport I've been in Singapore for the last 2 years, as they did not record my departure.
It could be an issue at some point if i need to go back.
There will be one somewhere probably in the top of the tank, I have seen some vans with an underslung tank with them in the top & you have to drop the tank out to get at them.
of which, this was a hoot:
Drive to the most expensive area of Birmingham.
The roads will be wide and the traffic low.
Find a circuit that you can drive around again and again, so that she des not have to worry about the 'where we are going' and concern herself with the 'how we are going'.
As said above, learning to drive is best done with non-family members!
We've got ours booked to be done on our drive on Monday. Not had it done before so will have to see how it comes out, but we are paying £85 for a hand wash and polish and wax including the roof. Its being done by Pegasus caravan valeting from Redditch and they get very good reviews. More than happy to pay this a couple of times a year if they do a good job, especially the roof.
Concorde are quality vans but all vans can be in poor condition depending on who has previously owned it.
Specific Concorde advice as follows-
Check for full service record on the engine, take it for a drive, if Iveco the older agile box can be problematic.
Electrically, check everything is working as it should including chargers, 12volt system, solar charging, EHU.
Cab double glazed side windows, check they have not blown as ridiculously expensive to replace unless you do it yourself.
Exterior locker doors, use a straight edge to check for trueness as some can delaminate which will cause bad water ingress, check all lockers for water ingress.
Check drop down bed(If it has one) gas struts work correctly.
Check shower tray for cracks/damage.
Check Alde heating is working on all settings and when it last had a fluid change/service.
Check habitation door is true and the entry control pad is working correctly as I have known Concorde owners having to have a complete new door due to this. Does it lock and open properly?
Check control panel is working correctly.
Check mattresses are good.
Bodywork damage and roof damage(Hail damage)
Wind awning out to check.
Check tyres for condition and age and budget for 6 new if over 7/8 years old.
Check and ask what sort of batteries are fitted and how old they are.
Check sog is working and oven/Tec tower works as they can be problematic.
Check front windscreen blind is working correctly, it has a separate inverter.
Check the GVW has it been up rated? Take it to a weighbridge and check total weight and each axle as payload can be tight on some of the 7500kg models.
Check the windscreen for damage and wipers are good and work.
Has it got any habitation service history?
You need to go see them obviously.
They gum up, or the diaphragm fails, you can’t really clean them easily.
I would just bite the bullet and change it.
What about the big supermarkets?
The radio is the screen at the top. The middle bank is AC. The bottom row includes a dial that has the word "mute" on it, so I assume that's volume control... for the radio. That's poor design.
Maybe but their selling point (they told me) is that you are guaranteed a pitch when you book, even on the same day.
So on their sites, no booking through their website =no pitch. Its going to be interesting for the person managing arrivals/departures at site level, good luck to them.
I'm not promoting this new company, just putting the information out on MF for people to think about.
Charging £15 and then not offering any facilities just seems to be asking for trouble in my book, where do they think people are going to dump?
Driver “shortage” has been an issue for months and years
This “panic” has nothing to do with Eastern European drivers or the reduced numbers thereof WHATSOEVER
I sell trucks for a living by the way, so I do know a bit about it
We need to be pointing the finger at the absolutely USELESS and not fit for purpose DVLA and the beurocracy of becoming/remaining a driver, together with the working conditions (poor) that an endemic lack of facilities for these key workers has gravitated to over YEARS
If anyone thinks bringing inexperienced/cheap/non English speaking or even sub-standard ( in many but not all cases) drivers in is the solution, when British drivers are deserting the profession in droves, they are wrong….very wrong

not sure will ask do i measure from the fiamma 45 to the ground ? cheers
Bud Light is less than 2 quid at spoons
Croatia has always checked passports in and out, so no worries there, it's only Schengen borders that check passports, if you entered France and drive through to say Italy it's only when you leave anyone is interested.
These days it's all recognition, a police officer has done his research before he stops you.
Try and get though a self scan at an airport without looking at the camera. Bob.
I think we would all agree that would be nice, but it’s not possible. If your a member of a club you have club benefits and privileges the further down the line we go with other trade agreements different laws etc etc the harde it would be to have the same boarder treatment as before.
I am not normally so thick in understanding basic rules , but my question is, I have booked my ferry from Newhaven-Dieppe on 22nd Dec. departing 11PM, and returning on 22nd Mar. What I’m not sure about is when do they count day one from? Is it when I check-in for my departure at 11PM on 22Dec.as I am checked-in by a French check-in operator at the booth, or at 4AM the next morning 23rd Dec. As I haven’t done the night crossing previously so don’t know or think that there will be anyone the other side on arrival 4AM waiting to scan my passport as I enter the Schengen Zone, if they start the countdown from my check-in that’s 91days, I know there will be various responses saying check on the Schengen calculator but from what date because at 11Pm I am in Newhaven but by 1145PM I will technically be outside UK waters, anyone clarify this one please as I don’t want to be penalised for the sake of 1day.
How well Truma Combi's work is down to the installation. Installed properly they work very well no complaints on ours.
Our van is 7.5m the boiler is mounted centrally under the lounge seat, 4 vents in the lounge front and aft of captain seats, heating outlets along the dash between roller blind & screen, outlets in shower & toilet. Also heating outlets along the sides of the bed and one in the garage. Works really well.
The roof on my Burstner T615 (2005) has decided to let the rain in from the bodywork join that sits just behind the front seats. When I looked at the roof, the whole roof had a fair bit of standing water on it as if the roof is slightly concave. I have put it on ramps for now to make sure the roof drains off. I can see that the join where the leak is has had a rather shoddy repair to the join, with silicone slapped on in the style of a two year old. My main concern is the amount of standing water on the roof, has anyone any thoughts on whether I should be concerned about this, or due to the relatively flat nature of motorhome roofs is this normal during heavy rainfall?
I read a lot of threads and talk to a lot of people who say its a shame its no longer summer and the season is over etc..
For me winter IS the season..... Starting now we have Halloween. Guy Fawlks Night. Christmas. New Years and snow covered hills. autumn leaves. Crisp mornings..
I think its the best time to be away in a Motorhome. Wrap up warm. stock the hot chocolate and enjoy the British countryside. Its stunning with a morning frost. We all have heaters and winter clothes. Summer most of us are missing AC to stay cool. Were better equipped as a nation to enjoy this end of the calendar.

Hi.
Where are you/it going to be based.? If Spain, you want Gus-Lopez,Funster. Be aware, to move any vehicle now between UK- EU - UK Costs money and a lot of time.
Tea Bag
Two months will get you round most of Ireland.
Edit - sorry missed the bit about health insurance, two months is ample for NI.
Nice place! :-(
It’s must be costing a fortune to add all the ANPR cameras that will be needed, mind you when their raking in the charges and then the fines from those who think they can get away with it they will be laughing !
Sorry but I have no answer to your question but I would be looking at companies like O'Leary's (Second-hand parts dealers) and scrap-yards if I wanted cheaper (then, while removing from a similar vehicle as your own, you could take picture as a reminder when refitting into your own)
In my experience, you only need the windscreen one, the sides frames block some of the rear-view mirrors.
Fitted mine to an 2011 X250 Ducato many years ago, no problems with fitting and one of the most useful extras I´ve fitted. It does restrict how far you can lower the sun visor.
Hi, we have a lovely free spot right on the seafront front in Folkestone with an AMAZING Nepalese restaurant only 15 minutes walk away.

I was there last week, the guy that mans the office has moved on i believe, so there may be some issues with communication until he is replaced, they have done several smaller jobs for me so i don't think that it's a case of considering some jobs to be to small or beneath them.
Sent a letter to DVLA seven days ago and had a reply today- result!

Interesting ..... exactly the same with mine back in the spring. Sent D2 and D4 in on 3 May with a photo (they said I had to have one) by signed for delivery. It came back on 28 May with all the details correct.
I had a T4 Westy for about 10 years. It was increasingly costly to maintain. T5s and now T6s have known issues so not all they are cracked up to be. VW must try harder if they are to maintain their brand image of reliability.
The best that can be said is that they are nice to drive, frugal on diesel, and very useable campers. If people want to pay the VW "scene" tax that's up to them.
He was right in the first place and in normal circumstances but of course your vehicle being adapted due to a disability allows for a degree of discretion. As you say not black and white (Are we allowed to use those terms these days?)
Maybe I am the only one who just pays whichever classe is asked for (although we usually avoid toll roads if we can).
We are under 3m but over 3500kg having up-plated to 3650 as a paper exercise. In France we were charged as Classe 2 in Italy it was hit and miss but in Switzerland we registered as a PHGV (which worked out cheaper for us than the vignette - aka "wig net" as per my sister in law).
Is this why Chasers not a fan. Inflamed.flesh.massaged is farmland near Stoke
Good old Naval saying...."Fitted For But Not With"...
Still a design in progress, but along these lines:
Building a "Coachbuilt" Self Build?
From talking to a kitchen designer I’m sure he (we had been drinking) told me that to make a perfect working kitchen the sink, hob and fridge should be a triangle. Speaking as a trained designer, he isn't wrong :giggle: It's called the "working triangle" and is a basic in working kitchen...www.motorhomefun.co.uk
Ok so I have my new conversion set up on my Brompton - just need to clip cables to finish but looking good - even year old installation clips are out of date. Also a bit disconcerting to get a card from them yesterday saying they are bringing out a smaller sized battery but such is progress.
Anyway does anyone have a favourite 12v adapter to use when in the van. Less hassle than using my inverter.
Also has anyone managed to reconfigure the battery to US speeds for countries where this is permitted.
There is magnets option with cables on the side rather than down the spigot. However, the radius bend for the cables is quite tight. I beded the rubber with a bit of CT1, and then fitted the pad. Then round the spigot a nice bead of CT1 again, before it made contact with the roof. Underneath, I used a 6mm ply reinforcing plate before the nut. This all in the top cupboard, run the wires trough 20mm trunking, glued to the ceiling in the cupboards. The cable was spot on for length with no coils, just a 4” radius bend. Avoid sharp bends.
Brilliant pic! Happy Christmas to all of you!
I would say totally illegal, it's not designed to be used like that, plus every junction you would probably take out everything when you turned leaving a trail of disruption behind you.
It's like pulling your curtains back on the empty trailer in windy conditions, if the trailer collapses it's not covered by insurance, the curtain creates the strength and designed to be used as such, shut the curtain and get blown over fully covered by insurance.

Morris Leisure were the only company to not honour our booking in lockdown. Annoying
and have you checked on full lock if the tyre touches the plastic inner arches? If it is only just clear when checking on flat ground and stopped, it can sometimes catch under load
Well done Lee, it is good to have you here to keep us informed.
Geoff
Agree completely, it's an absolute blot on the landscape and nothing like the pictures on the website. Essentially, it's a rough patch of broken tarmac with zero security. In February, it's £15 a night without EHU and £19 with.Sorry for being blunt
its a dump, why anyone would want to stay on their, especially when there is a rally on literally across the road in Victoria Park for a tenner is mind blowing, we’ve seen it empty and seen it rammed and I’d sell the motorhome if I had to stay at such a run down looking place as this one.
On a weekend it’s been filled up cars which just adds to the whole unsightly view, yes I know some full timers are grateful of such places but it’s not for me I’m afraid.
Location wise it’s pretty much spot on but if I were the council I’d have to insist that it’s spruced up a lot as it’s the first thing you see when crossing the road from the car parks whilst heading into Southport‘s lovely offerings .
I had a look at this site, and it looks like quite a pleasant spot and in a different league to Pleasureland. I am pretty sure however, that the sign outside stated that it was restricted to members of the Scouts Association. We stayed at the Sea Scouts site - off Marine Drive (PR8 1SQ), small site but got everything we needed, and walking distance to everything and just off the retail park. 2 night minimum at £20 a night including EHU. Choice of hardstanding or grass on a first come first served basis. You do have to pre-book though. Secure site with gates.
I would agree you are very rough & ready.I've stayed there a few times.......I must be like him above.
yes 200ydsIs there not a CCM site very near to there?
Sorry for being blunt

We are around Southport quite often but use Willowbank at Ainsdale which is 5 mins drive into Southport or is on a bus route.Has anybody stayed on pleasure land touring park and was it ok ?
Hi.Sorry guys, no idea what happened there!
