Something just popped up on Facebook about this years Southport air show being (understandably) cancelled, and has announced the dates for next year's as July 3rd&4th

We've been to Southport once, years ago, before we we're CMC member's, so never stayed at the site, but it looks really nice, and walking distance from the town/beach/pier etc

Just booked a long weekend at the site and looking for advice & tips from people who have been there for the air show - like, is it best to stay at the site and watch from the, or get onto the prom early and get a good vantage point

Just trying to get an idea of what it's like from when I've been to Sunderland air show, and you can't get parked anywhere, once on the prom you can't move etc

Thanks

Rob

Been on a couple of occasions, nice site everything within easy walking distance. Not advisable to watch from site as can’t really sea anything. Onto the prom or the Pier (at extra cost) but plenty of space and room to view on the Prom or the beach, great weekend if like everything you get the weather.?

Sorry meant to say that I am talking about CMC special site in the park for the weekend and not the full time site.

Thank you, I've booked into the full time site, I never knew there was a pop up site for the weekend - where is it in relation to the the full time site?

Last time I was at the Southport airshow, we were staying in the CC club as it was then, you could just cross the road & hop on the park & ride bus, it was free if you weren't parking, was a lovely area to holiday in.

Went to the Sunderland airshow when I was dating a woman from Roker, no parking issues & could watch the show from her place when it rained on day 2.

Victoria park then? It’s where they hold the flower show too. We’ve been, it’s a brill spot. All the clubs have an area on there for the show. Nice and secure too. Coded gates to get out to Morrison’s and town, beach just across the road but as the show is held on there access will be restricted. All within walking distance. It’s a good weekend. We didn’t have tickets for the show but saw quite a lot as some of the planes came over the park. They also have rallies throughout the year on there too.

behind / left of the site. Go through the back gate in the middle of the site towards rotten row and it’ll be on your left. You pass the entrance enroute to the site.

Where is this, if it’s to the left of the funfair it’s £20 night, and they pack them in on busy times such as shows. The rallies on Victoria park have the standard club distances applied so room to move and can’t hear your neighbour having a fart!

For the air show I'd say you have to be very lucky or get there a week early

Just Paul

We're looking at buying the tickets for the viewing from the pier rather than the prom, we've never been to the airshow so don't know what to expect, do you think it's worth the upgrade for the pier viewing, or just go for the prom viewing?

Thanks,

Rob

We saw everything from the prom as the show is over water and if your looking out to sea the show runs right to left as they use Blackpool Airport.

If your thinking of parking at the funfare they hike the prices up for shows and here's a pic of how they pack them in.
