Hi does anybody know what the weather is like around end of April early May, thinking of planning a trip next year , also I might be looking for suggestions on routes etc.thanks

I think predicting the weather with certainty anywhere is a lottery these days, but it should be very pleasant in SoF in April and May.
I'm in the Ardeche atm and still in flipflops shorts and t shirts. 😜

Could be nice but one year about that time we had snow in the South of France. Spain was warmer but heavy rain however I think that was fairly unusual. The only solution with the weather is to be flexible and follow the sun.
Having a plan is fine, following it is a different matter.

Your route will depend imo on your timescale. If in a rush hammer it down the toll road to maximise your time in the sun. If you arent just drive and stop where you want.

Easter used to be our main holiday for many years. We spent the majority of the 2 weeks around the St Tropez area, and it was mostly very pleasant weather, like a normal British summer temperature.

Can be nice, we had a may heatwave 20 years ago.

But you can check the webcam

As above - it's tricky to predict the weather in late Spring.
I rode in June and found the 38'c oppressive - so chose May the next year and woke one morning to snow outside the hotel. Fun when you're on a bike.

September seems the most reliable - that is until the autumn storms bring huge hailstones and dangerous roads.

Or April and accept it may be good or bad.
