Ok folks, I am going to et away from the over commercialised rubbish that is Christmas in the UK, including the bollox of New year.
I have toured France loads of times on the bike and in the car, but never in the Winter in a motorhome. So what I am looking for is a place in the South that I can kick back over Christmas and new year and have a peaceful relaxing time of it.
If anyone has done this I would be most interested to hear your experience and if anyone has suggestions for places to stay that would be most welcome.

We are a couple that likes the quiet life and will have a large dog with us and a small motorcycle....Do like some nice food and wine though:winky: Love the French and have no problem with the language.

You're not getting many ideas here. I guess the problem is the weather, if people are going to drive south most prefer to go to Spain or Portugal. Compare weather forecast for Nice. Link Removed
With that of say Murcia in Spain: Link Removed

The Spanish and Portuguese sites also offer good deals for long stays and cost of living generally cheaper, particularly Portugal. The weather isn't always perfect, Faro due to get some rain over the next week but it is still going to be warmer than Nice.

The French Aires will still be packed along the south coast, assuming the usual occupants haven't all gone to Morroco, so you may be able to find a space somewhere. Other than that option it will just have to be a case of going through the campsite books to find one open unless someone can make a recommendation.

Of course you could always practice your French in Morroco!

Christmas 2014 Sth France

What parts are you calling Sth of france, it can be cold & wet, i live near Toulouse & have for 6 yrs, we winter (Dec to March) in Spain At Marjal now, going to Mazarron next week.
When we left home in France early Dec it was a mixture of rain & when dry minus 6 or 8c at night, had e mails from friends back in France last few days, who say its very cold & wet, they are leaving for Spain very shortly.
Speaking to somebody on site yesterday in Marjal, they live near to Narbonne, which is the Sth of France & they winter in Spain for 4 Months each year. i would suggest travel a bit further in to Spain, Join the rest of us, its warmer & cheaper.

Yes, OK, it is not as warm here as in Spain - we get a proper winter! The plus factor is that we do not suffer from midges and mozzies during the year. Today we woke to 10C, though the average is 6ish, and we do have some frosts, though none lately.
You are welcome, your dog is welcome (no charge for pets, and good walks here), and there are long-stay reductions as well as a funster discount!

As Ken said, if you want a peaceful stay in the southern half of France there is no better site. (Biased - who, me?):ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Don't know what the med will be like but avoid the Atlantic coast. Lived down there for five years and winters were cold, in fact one year couldn't get to work for snowdrifts!!!
