I suffered the same problem, invested in a Bose soundbar. Superb quality but not cheap, worth what I paid though.

I find on some films that the dialogue is very difficult, SWMBO is the same and she is never wrong, so I think it's something to do with the way the soundtrack is broadcast.

Have a look at Sonos- my son and I both have one each and it’s great and cheaper than Bose

I would like a cheapish TV Soundbar, I think I
am getting a bit deaf, hoping to get better clarity on dialogue.
Any suggestions please

Whatever you buy I recommend you confirm its compatibility with your TV. I bought a Samsung to go with my Samsung TV (separately) but they never worked properly together, the most annoying problem was synchronisation between picture & sound and combined on/off function. Sound wasn’t a great improvement either. Probably just unlucky, but waste of £80 for me.

I had a Majority Snowden 2.1 Soundbar for the bedroom tv (until I upgraded to Sonos) for £55 on Amazon
Excellent for the money

There's usually an adjustment in the TV settings for sound sync or maybe on the sound bar.
