Hi guys, grateful for any advice. I've got a 2016 Hymer T SL708 on a Fiat Ducato base and was hitching up the tow car for an early getaway tomorrow morning and I have no power to the trailer socket. Ive checked the socket with a trailer socket tester and have no indicators, lights or brake lights though all the motorhome lights are working OK (as are the towed vehicle lights when activated within the car). I even checked the tester on another vehicle tow socket and that is working OK. Everything was working when I last hitched up 2 weeks ago. Any suggestions?

No power, take the socket apart and check all wires are still connected.

It seems that the trailer socket plug to the Fiat loom has detached maybe?
Usually along the LH chassis extension is where the main loom plug is.

Living the dream.
Where are you getting the earth from? If your using the earth pin it could be that otherwise you have a total failure. Won't be a fuse as the feeds normally come straight from the Moho lights.

Yep, sounds like it is either:

- blown fuse
- in-line plug disconnected
- no earth connection

Same happened to us and after talk with guy who fits them eventually traced it to point under plastic step at the drivers door !!
This is where the connections to the loom is made and relay there had failed. Went local towbar fitters and new relay was £14.99.
Sorry cannot give part number and guy has nowretired.
Try Mike Parkinson in Freckleton Tel 07887 997653 he can maybe advise you as he has fitted a few in the past for me.

many many years! since I was a kid
quite common for the 7 way bypass relay to fail. they are often left exposed or just taped up under the van. not expensive but a pain because it always fails when you need it most. takes about 1 hour to change and make watertight in a box

Thanks for all the advice, eventually sorted late last night. It turned out the 7 pin adapter I was using on the 13 pin socket wasn't fully engaging, hence no power to tow vehicle lights. Feel a bit of a plonker really! Anyway, arrived safely in Lake District now, time for a beer!
