Hi all
Just getting ready for the first weekend in the new HM.
Having never had one or done it before ever.
I'd forgot just how much stuff we needed to buy/load into it.
Any way need to pull my finger out and sort out the toilet.
If I'm being honest it's the only part of the nomadic life style I'm not keen on.
I don't mind buying the blue and pink stuff but don't really know what go's where or what it can do.
While the dealer has been very helpful I get the impression here getting a bit sick of me and my daft questions.
So I thought I'd pester you lot in stead ?
Thanks

hi, stick about!! a litre of water in the cassette add some blue / green stuff!!! the pink stuff is rinse if you got a flush tank.....

cheap bog paper IMHO is best as it breaks down very quickly in the water and makes it easier to fully empty the cassette

Blue in the holding tank. Dont pour it down the bowl u might stain it. Green is more environmentally friendly. Some sites wont allow u to dump blue.
Some loos have a tank to hold flushing water which is where the pink goes if u dont have that tank u dont need pink

We dont use chemicals at all, get yourself soe liquid washing stuff, cheap as you can, but we use Lidl or Aldi

no issues with dumping it , some places you can’t dump blue or green, both are pretty viscous chemicals

asking avoids any mess with blue stuff leaking

Read up on the toilet roll tip - think it’s on here somewhere where you “line” the loo with a few strips of loo paper before you go for a poo. It really works well .

Our loo flushes from the fresh water tank so I put a couple of pints of water in the empty cassette and add cheap washing powder to it (three scoops).

Oh goodie, another toilet thread, haven't had one for ages!

We don't use the blue or green (or pink for that matter) stuff. Instead half a capful - that's CAPful - of Tesco (or other brand) bio washing liquid into the cassette with half a litre of water does the trick. Don't use more or you get a chemical smell. It's cheap and can be emptied into any disposal system without worry. Helps keep the cassette nice and clean too.

We try to empty it every day but with care can last up to 4 days. A tip, make up a spray bottle of water with a few drops of bio liquid to use to clean after use rather than flush with water every time - saves filling up the cassette too quickly and your water supply too.

There'll be lots more different opinions along shortly. I'll just go and get some popcorn.....................

Great tip thanks

Use bio washing capsules in your loo you don't need chemical fluids. Don't wait till the cassette is full before you empty it. They do get heavy. Best to do a few trial empties after a days use. Only empty into a proper elsan disposal point. Don't forget to turn the spout and place the cap somewhere safe so it won't fall into the elsan, press the yellow air relief valve and invert the cassette. Allow to drain. Rinse with any water supplied at the elsan point or take your own in a container used for the toilet only, empty milk cartons are good.
Best of luck.

It also helps if you put a target in the center so that the eyes in your bum can see where to aim????

You’ve got to be a rotten aim if you miss from 3 inches away :-)

Ahhh! Camping toilets, Great!. "Bog standard" Each to his / her own. I use what is to hand, Green, bloo, soapy. All goes down the same way in the end. Power wash the blighter occasionally. and then just stop worrying about it. After all it`s only Sh1t, even Liz has to do one occasionally.

I’m with TerryL except I use the Lidl bio washing tabs and put one in. Less chance of spillages and mess and easier to store for me in a PVC
I only put pink in the spray bottle not in the flushing tank.

It's a 3" hole into the tank... If you can't hit that the bomb aimer needs sacking.

No need to add any water to the cassette if you know someones going to pee in it, it just fills it up faster. No need to rinse every time either unless theres a blockage. A bit of pink in the spray bottle is good. Flushing too often will fill it up quickly, not needed for a no1.

We started using the pink in the spray, seemed to be "killing " the bio.
Incidentally I don't always flush the cassette, especially if water is scarce. Leave some of the bugs to carry on the good work:giggle:

We also use a hand, pressure spray, the type used for gardens, around a litre capacity, from poundland, washes the pan like a jet wash and only uses a small amount of water.

For the men (only traveling alone) use the sink in the bathroom to pee or the shower - less in the cassette and no splashing on the legs....

Spray with antibacterial after of course..

Someone told me that.... ;) ...

......honest

Thanks for all the replies I do appreciate you taking the time.
A mate of mine had a caravan.
He told me to use washing powder.
As we are all way taking the piss (pardon the pun) and winding each other up and playing pranks I was not sure if he was winding me up.
Is there a brand as I will be buying it tomorrow.
And I'm ok in the beer isles but that all.
As I can pour it down any where I will opt for this.
This weekend we are with both offspring so we are on a proper site.
So hopefully the toilet block won't be to far from the HM

Just use bio washing liquid or the boxes of bio capsules, Aldi or Lidll do the cheaper ones. Work out approx 15p per charge, just they are in handy boxes with lids, just chuck one in after you have emptied.

You could also you tube now to empty cassette, but always get the best advice here, great forum  ::bigsmile:
