Newbie!
Sorry, I know I keep posting photos, but last night, I was lucky! Very very lucky!

There are some tree stumps at the bottom of our garden where we have a bird feeder. I got home from work last night and although not very sunny, the light was great, so I set up a trap.

I placed some bird feed on one of the stumps, put the camera on a tripod, focused on the top edge of the tree stump and set an Aperture to include about 2 inches beyond the focus point. Set the camera to Remote, went and hid in the summer house with Infrared remote in hand........

I got lucky. Sorry for yet another share, but I love these shots and I'm proud to have captured them!

Brilliant Craig, 1st class, go to the top of the class. You can keep boring me with these picture for ages, as has been said if you don't want to look you don't have to.

I still prefer all those pics of birds you sent me under plain paper wrapper though...:winky:

7 Years after 5 years with caravan.
Set the trap up again this evening, didn't get anything apart from this cheeky chap who kept turning up. Not a brilliant photo as I wasn't expecting a bird to fill the whole frame, so didn't have the metering quite right for it.

Thief Caught In The Act by Craig Rogers, on Flickr

You say it's not brilliant, but boy does he look aggressive - I think it captures one of the aspects of the magpies character perfectly.

Fab photos, we have an amazing variety of birds here and a motorhomer who comes regularly to take photos. Pied Flycatcher is the best at the moment as he is very aggressive to the tits, warblers and nuthatches. Makes good photos !
Thanks for posting your photos

A perfect example of why some people get really good photographs........ The photograph is in their head before they touch the camera.

Funny you should say that Brian.

I'm off to an Andy Rouse (one of the worlds best Wildlife Photographers)Seminar in a few weeks and the pre-work for it is to submit a photo for critique/competition.

There is a theme and I have an idea for said theme.

I've spent 2 days planning this one photo including using a sun path calculator to get in the right position for the sunset and getting a right spot in a field to get the shot, the only thing I can't gaurantee is that the subject will also be in the frame so may include some sheep herding. Will it pay off? Maybe, maybe not, but as you say it's all in the planning and we'll have a bit of a laugh getting the photo. :ROFLMAO:

If it comes off, I'll share it. :thumb:
