I am trying to get to grips with sorting a tv for the new motorhome, basically I see the Avtex ones and the Cello ones (quite a difference in price) but then I see talk of chromecast and firestick too?

Is there an idiots guide anywhere as I can't see one?

EDIT to add: Not interested in fitting a satellite dish, already has a digital aerial.

Firestick will allow you to turn the Tv into a smart tv if you have internet. You can also load it with films then playback on tv

Got unlimited data on my phone so thats good unless of course the 4g lets me down.
Didn't realise the firestick also had storage, thats quite a useful feature.

I have recently had both avtex and cello tv's, the cello was ok but the avtex was better, enough to justify the difference in price?? not sure about that one, neither of them are "smart", so i have a firestick, plug it in to one of the hdmi ports and connect it to your wifi and bobs your uncle, streaming tv, easy peasy.

This whole 12volt TV thing confuses me, I have a 240 volt smart tv that I got from Argos about 8 years ago on offer £70 and a little inverter from Halfrauds about 30 quid I think so why pay lots of money for a 12 volt 1?

Ah now I was looking at the Cello Traveller thinking that would be best but then thought the issue with viewing was with them all.

Because inverters have noisy whiny fans and waste power.

Best question to answer is what kind of shows do you want to watch, live football? Movies? Or just countdown on a rainy afternoon?

The LG runs on 19v DC through its power supply, or mains.

It only uses 1.5 amps at 12v through the inverter. If that's too much for you, feel free to spend £419 on the 12v Avtex that doesn't even have Bluetooth 😂

Sorry 😉

I've got a decent size Samsung TV (maybe 22") and the inverter fan never comes on when powering the TV. TV was about £30 on gumtree, firestick £30, sorted 👍

Buy a cheap 12v capable TV and a fire stick. Tether from phone or mobile Wi-fi if you have it. Does the job perfectly. We bought our 24” TV from Aldi for around £60. Works absolutely fine.

There is no right or wrong answer....it's what works... 12v TV with Firestick & t'internet does most stuff, if the 4g Signal is rubbish then you've the TV antenna ... usually on site if the TV signal is rubbish they have boosters... I've been to places like Bolton Abbey where TV is like that and only a handful of channels too with their booster ....safe travels & hope you've found your answers

Many LG tvs run on 19v and come with an external AC 240v to DC 19v adapter block. Thus you can plug an alternative 19v supply into the TV. You can get DC 12v to DC 19v car chargers for laptops which will run your LG tv from your 12v supply without using an inverter - I use this one
Amazon product ASIN B07SHFKG3N
Much more efficient than an inverter, I understand.
