My road tax id due the end of this month and I am thinking of SORN ing Hengist for the winter and going off on cheap hotel deals in the UK
(Lizzy dont like flying) for the winter.

I an aware that it has to be insured and Hengist lives on my drive at home

Anyone else do the same ?

technically as long as it is not parked on the road then you dont have to insure it although it would be a bit stupid not too.

I have an old motorbike frame in the garden that I have sorned for about 5 years and never insured it.

Doesn't have to be insured if SORNed. It's a good plan.

Of course the theft side of the insurance is a good idea.

Even better get Liz used to flying. It's safer than being in a van with you.

if there is no insurance, the road tax (if current) must be returned and sorn declared.

if there is no road tax it must be on 'sorn' and kept off the road, but doesnt have to be insured.

Doesn't have go be insured if SORN'd but is it wise to not insure?

Hi

I'm with Comfort and my policy says that I have to have road tax. I have been parked on a site for the last 6 months and it's been a bit annoying not being able to SORN. Other insurers may require road tax as well.

I was about to post something similar.
Some insurers insist on the vehicle being taxed and MOTd.
It's worth checking with your insurers.
