Afternoon, after a variety of touring caravans and towing vehicles, we have decided to take the plunge after lots of research and gathering of advice from forums and internet searching, together with the odd conversation, to change to a Motorhome. We have caravanned through France and Spain for our summer holidays since 2000. More local to home (West Sussex) has really been confined to long weekends to the New forest etc. In the early days caravanning and traveling with 4 daughters gave us affordable holiday accommodation to the Mediterranean, although the two day journeys both ways all stuck together have apparently scared them all for life!. Youngest daughter ( the only one left at home) is off to university hopefully (interesting times) So we thought why not. So here we are. So although not new to touring and motorhome sites, we do feel that we are venturing into new undiscovered territories!.

Thank you.

Regards Paul and Angie.

Hi, and welcome.
We have recently done the same thing after 45 years of caravanning, though we have been members for 12 years on here. As you will experience it is a completely different way of holidaying. We have found we can just 'pop off' for a couple of days, something as you know is not possible with a caravan on tow. Oh yes, you will miss the space, but not for more than a millisecond as the joys of just turning the key and going settle in. No more crawling under the van, getting soaked getting it ready to go. Oh yes, like us you will love it very quickly.
I am not that sure that "you will miss the space", our compact 6metre motorhome has as much space as our last caravan which was longer overall, but needed a car with enough grunt to pull it and all the gear had to be inside the van or in the car whereas with our double floor all the clutter (chairs, tables, BBQ,etc) is underneath

Partly true however, our caravan was 8.25m long, an Adria Isonzo that was 8 foot wide and has so much living space inside, and 25kg of storage all over the place. True about the car. It had to carry the chairs, etc whereas the motorhome has the lockers to store them underneath. Swings and roundabouts but....just turn the key and go...stop more or less when you want...go to loo on the way without getting drenched or mown down makes it an exciting change.
