At some point, in the next few weeks, I'll need to go down to Cornwall and make sure all is OK with my Mum and her carers (all isolated)

Normally I'd stay in the Granny flat at the bottom of the garden, however my niece has taken up residence as she has been living in LA and is now effectively trapped in the UK with no place to live.

My Sister is currently trapped in NZ, but her house has her son and friend living there as they are also homeless.

So when I go down the M5/A30 I'll be in the motor home and I'll be parking in the driveway (Which is well away from the house)
I'll leave it as long as I can, but it's weeks not months we are talking about.

I have just returned from 5 days in Cornwall in the MoHo.
600 mile round trip London/Cornwall/London

It was an urgent drive down, as the doctor said to me and my brother "if you lads can get down to your Mum in the next few hours, do it", so we did. (Sister and nephew still trapped in New Zealand)

It was a bit touch and go over the weekend, but having been pumped full of antibiotics she is a lot better than she was and should now pull through.

My brother drove down in a car, he said there were Police waiting at two places on the A30.

If anyone one needs my Motorhome route down to Cornwall where I avoided all main roads then I can provide.

Their are many people, Husband/ Wife's/ Sons/ Daughters have had worse, the last time they saw their loved one when taken away in an Ambulance.
I have taken the liberty of sending your route into Cornwall to the Chief Constable of police in Cornwall.
I might add that in my opinion, Motorhome fun should not be allowing posts, that promote the breaking of the LOCKDOWN, A word you don't seem to understand.

I think most people would get that.

What I don't get is that if the trip was as urgent and necessary as suggested, why you would then spend time working out a route that takes you longer to get where you need to be, to deliberately try and avoid the authorities instead of just getting there as quick as you could?

Why would any normal person having done that then advertise the fact on a forum instead of just thinking, "OK, I can justify to myself why I needed to do that and it worked", pat themselves on the back and keep quiet about it?

And the most socially irresponsible part; to then offer to provide details of a route that could assist anyone else to flout legislation, not knowing how many people might decide to attempt it for totally unnecessary reasons and possibly put other people at risk - including potentially the OP's own relative?

And having already lost four relatives, a neighbour, and several medical professional friends and colleagues of my wife's to Covid-19 I think that stupid doesn't go anywhere near enough describing the latter two aspects. That's what I get angry about and I don't care if I get a ban. It's stupid, idiotic, irresponsible and reckless and beggars belief that any supposedly intelligent person could think otherwise.

Two weeks ago, one of my wife's friends, a nurse she used to work with who we have known for over 35 years, took another nurse in the hospice where she was working, as it had been converted into an NHS overspill ward for non-covid patients, to hospital in her own car because her colleague was seriously ill with covid and there were no ambulances available in the whole eastern region, despite having waited nearly 5 hours for one to materialise. Both are still patients in ICU and both are seriously ill.

And some people seem to be doing their best to make this whole situation worst instead of better :(

I think I must live in a different world to other people.

Yes, we should not break lockdown... We must think of others... But can you honestly say if your mum was possibly dying that you wouldn't move heaven and earth to be with her. ..

But what upsets me most about this is that although we should all do what we think is right, it is the sly way that it was done before reporting to the police. Absolutely no need to ASK for the journey to be posted on here (why do that), and then REPORT it.

(certain posts have thankfully now been removed thanks to proper monitoring.)

Yes, don't advocate flouting... But why bring this forum into disrepute by reporting?

Why not just post, 'Keep the journey to yourself so that irresponsible people don't use it'.

Like the rest of the family cousin Shaun Sawyer was well aware of our trip to see his great Aunt.

Note: It was the Doctors advise that if we could get down we should get down.
We are moving between one protective bubble to another protective bubble.
As we are having no interaction with anyone I do not see any risk to anyone

Mind you he and his officers are probably too busy learning some groovy dance moves to post a video on Tik- Tok:rolleyes:

Absolutely no issue with that. Why boast about how you did it (that's how it comes across) and then offer to assist anyone else to travel avoiding checks by enforcement officers though? That's the totally irresponsible aspect.

Couldn't you just keep it to yourself?

Underneath your wacky logo it says you come from Greenwich. So you left London, a town that has many cases of chinese flu19, without knowing if you were a carrier. You drove 8 hours during which I assume you stopped somewhere for fuel, not knowing if you were contagious. you avoided all the normal routes and drove for an extra 2 hours, why?. If you had a good case like Mum being ill I am sure the Police would let you travel on the main roads. When you got there you would be interacting with doctors, relatives etc, with you coming from an area with high incidence of infection. Did you not think you may be passing the virus, to many others, some of whom would be visiting other sick people and they then may infect others. And then to publish your route. Words fail me.

But as well you know, before certain posts were correctly removed, my post obviously did not refer to you.... and I, rather stupidly, agreed with your point of view.

Sorry, movan. I didn't well know because I hadn't seen the removed posts. They must have been posted and removed between my previous and subsequent visits to the thread.

I read your reference to some posts having been removed, but as I couldn't see any change in recent posts since I last logged in, I assumed you were referring to posts further back in the thread.

However it changed, the quoting that remained appeared to suggest that I had reported someone, and I certainly haven't; neither the OP or anyone else.

My feelings on Brains actions (in posting what he did, rather than what he did) haven't changed, nor are they likely to, but you're quite at liberty to agree or disagree as you wish :giggle:

Am I the only one who is currently wondering whether to visit Cornwell again when this is all over?
Never been and will never visit now. Hate the sound of duelling banjos anyway. Loads of other places to spend the hard earned cash. I have seen so much bile coming from a place that relies on tourist money.

No, & also I'm wondering why anyone would come to Spain again after being asked to leave & escorted from the premises?
If they are giving this advise they are also in contravention of the lock down rules.
There aren't any rules .It isn't a 'lockdown' just an inconvenicence. He wasn't breaking any rules just following the doctors instructions. Even be thrown out in court as soon as the Doctor confirmed his " Get here asasp" .
Why boast about how you did it
It didn't come across as boasting to me he was asked ,apparently, to provide the route by a grass & did so. He wasn't boasting.
You drove 8 hours during which I assume you stopped somewhere for fuel,
If your vehicle won't drive for 300miles without needing fuel there something wrong woth it. even at 30 mpg it's only 40 odd litres.
drove for an extra 2 hours, why?.
i'd look at it like this. I either stay on the main roads lose time every time I was stopped explaining . Then you might get the bolshie one who still wants to dish out a 'fine' & send you back. I'd have no problem with paying that as long as they dished it out asap & I was on my way .Any attempt to send me back Or even the mention of it , I wouldn't be going & then it is likely to degenerate , certainly with me.Whereas across country less chance of being inconvenienced.

I went camping a couple of days ago . Set in the camper had nice cup off coffee and piece of cake and watched the world go by . It was my own drive I have to say . We get children with the presents walking to our local beach . I have decked the front of the cab out with teddy bears and the children stop and look at them .the younger ones their faces light up looking at teddy’s of all shapes and sizes .

The Bolshie one as stated is doing his job keeping people out of Cornwall who may be a threat.
How is that Bolshie, we should be in lockdown, but if your journey was for what you say it was he would probably let you through. You brother reported he was only stopped twice and they let him through
I doubt if that cost him two hours, and no bolshie policeman.
