Ok my circumstances have changed. I needed to downsize from a motorhome to a small van . Having put it out there on the usual selling platforms, nothing after a month or so. Then I get a call from a broker asking me if I wanted to sell through them. Ok I thought, but knowing what I know about brokers I asked for £2500 over the price I wanted, the reason will become clearer later. I dropped the Moho off and the salesman never looked at it and we signed up! He said it will take a week or so to sell ! It didn’t it took 6 weeks, he’d took a deposit on it and said the client wanted aircon fitted (yeah right!)but it’s going to cost £2080 to install. He asked me to reduce the price ( not his price of course!). Obviously I agreed! There was a sort of deadline agreed which was not set in stone of the 4th August , I emailed asking for an update and he said that there was other work needed (which I knew there was ) such as the fly screen was broken, the basin needs to be replaced and the drop down bed fixing! So if you are prepared to wait for the sale know some if not all of the rules of the game !

Huge respect to you however..you agree a sale price with the broker... job done.
You are not expected to drop the price afterwards if someone wanted extras fitting or if there were faults from day one! Transparency is what was required from you and the broker.
From the beginning....Tell of the problems and negotiate a figure to suit. As regards extras...thats the buyers choice afterwards. 👍😏

Trouble is the salesman never asked ! That was his problem, not mine if he didn’t want to pay due diligence to the process, who am I to argue, they were always going to hope you drop your price.

Perhaps as the agent was working for you, he assumed you'd been honest and transparent with him, on price and on things that needed fixing

I doubt that, he is making £7k ! So I guess he calculated the amount!
Well, your morals !

Frankly being dishonest in any transaction say's a lot about someone I always found

Personally If I had used a third party to help me sell something, I would tell them the truth about what ever was wrong with what I was asking them to sell for me and be honest about the price I expected returned

Then I wouldn't have to drip on Social Media about it

Different Strokes!

The thing is the salesman wasn’t interested in checking over the Moho , he actually told me don’t worry about anything which would need to be done. He couldn’t wait for me to hand over the keys , saying he had a film production company and 6 buyers waiting. If you’re talking about morals , the van actually took over 6 weeks to get a buyer . This I believe is standard procedure for a broker, they just need stock on their forecourt. They know after 6 weeks you are willing to either drop your price or for them to do so . I think you are very naive if you think they are going to tell you the truth. It’s a business decision after all and you play the game or you get screwed!

Didn't say that in original post

What evidence do you have to substantial this?
They just need stock on their forecourt.
Unlikely it's a buyers market
They know after 6 weeks you are willing to either drop your price or for them to do so
Again, what evidence do you have to support this wild accusation

Well let's be honest, you've made loads of assumptions, why not add me to the list, I assume you "think" the Easter Bunny exists, as does the tooth fairy and bigfoot
if you think they are going to tell you the truth. It’s a business decision after all and you play the game or you get screwed!
Having established two successful businesses, satisfying tens of thousands of customers, personally I found the best principal was to avoid like the plague people who weren't honest and decent

The only thing worse than a blinkered chip on the shoulder customer, who knew the cost of everything but the value of nothing, was one with two chips on their shoulders

Not suggesting that this tale of dishonesty and sellers remorse reflects my opinion of course

But I also could be lying lol

You’ve done well if the sale does go through and got £420 more than you wanted.
I wouldn’t have posted anything until at least the deal was done.
It does seem strange that he had 7 buyers in total waiting in the current climate?
