I recently lost my wife
We were always out about in the van should sell or carry on as a solo traveler?
I was thinking of booking a site for a few days just to see if I like being on my own in the van
I do have two dogs that always come with us
Does anyone else travel on their own ?

As you say, try it for a day or so. It might be hard to start but it’s a way of getting out there and seeing the world. Good luck.

Perhaps join in one of the Motorhomefun events or rallies where you will have some company. There are also some clubs that have been set up for people who travel on their own and want a bit of company.

Sorry to hear it.

I would try it?

Perhaps go to a few rallies.

Perhaps even find a few friends even female friends along the way.

Cheers James

Don’t make any quick decisions. How you feel in 6 months/ a year will be completely different to how you feel now.
There are lots of solo groups on FB.

I would try and keep the motorhome and get involved here on the forums . Obviously you will be aware of the rallies where you can meet up with other funsters . I bet your wife would have wanted you to keep the motorhome and keep getting out there and being happy 👍🏻

Good morning Conniedriving
There are a lot of us solos on MHF and from personal experience I can say that attending rallies has been great. Friendships have been formed as a result and I am currently on holiday with a couple of those friends - living the dream. (With dogs!)
Try it, but give yourself time before making any final decisions.

Just give yourself time and don‘t make any hasty decisions about getting rid of the van. My husband has been gone for three years and initially I couldn’t contemplate just me and the dog in a van. Now I am loving it but still have to take a deep breath and join rallies etc, maybe next year.

Sorry for your loss.

There are many of us solos on the road, some through choice.

It will be difficult at first.... I'd even go as far as to say it may bring home your loneliness...... but as you get to mix and find confidence to talk, it will get better. New friends, new interests, and new conversations away from sadness, much laughter.

As said, GIVE IT TIME, it won't hapoen straight away.

Hug.

I think the posts above give you some idea of how friendly this group is, so hold on to that van for now..

Maybe just the wrong time of year when rallies, shows and meets are not as plentiful as in the summer.
Having the dogs i would think is a good reason to visit places, go walks and as so often happens just engage in conversation with people that you meet. (y) No harm in ever posting to ask if anyone is around in a certain location ie when your visiting a campsite. When Funsters are around its often a good chance to meet up and say hello.

Look forward to seeing you on a field somewhere in the future...
