Hi all,

I have the Solar Technology Dual Battery Solar Charge Controller 20amp.

I’m looking WiFi version to keep an eye on it.

Is it worth the extra cost?
The controller and panel are doing just fine keeping two batteries charged.
If so what would you recommend?

So is it worth the hassle swopping?

Thanks.

I’ve got one of those and it works fine, but I access battery data via the Truna iNet system. Does the wifi version allow remote monitoring like iNet or is it like a bluetooth system in the van? Whichever, I guess it’s expensive? You can add a battery monitor which will provide comprehensive data on both batteries - connects via cable directly to the controller. About £30 I think Battery Monitor

I’m not worried about it it’s working well just interested in another way to monitor it.

I know the Victron SmartSolar range has built.in WiFi rather than having to plug in a separate WiFi dongle (if you like gadgets and seeing what the solar panel is up to.)

I’ve just ordered one of these PV LOGIC 15A Dual Battery MPPT Pro Charge Controller With Bluetooth. My current controller is a pwm which was fitted to the van when I bought it so I wanted to upgrade to an mppt one for better results. I’ll let you know how it performs when I’ve fitted it.
I would have gone for Victron but they don’t seem to make a dual battery solar controller.

Fantastic keep us informed.

Controller arrived so I fitted it yesterday. Straight swap so easy, 6 wires and four screws. Downloaded the app and connected my iPad via Bluetooth which took me a while as the unit wanted a 6 digit password and the instructions didn’t tell you what it was. So I tried all the obvious ones 123456, 000000 which didn’t work? then I noticed that the device name on a Bluetooth search was pv 332214 so I put this number in and it connected ? it’s working ok. Here’s a couple of screen shots of the app

If you just want some extra voltage info this might be for you, it's a tiny Bluetooth module that goes straight onto the battery terminals, power consumption is negligible at 2ma. £19 on ebay.

Very interesting indeed, my controller is under a seat so this would make it easier to keep an eye on things.

Thanks for the info and now let the fun begin.
