There's Polycrystalline, Monocrystalline and Panasonic HiT. Poly is less efficient than Mono, and the best is HiT. A 100W panel of any type will produce 100W in the same test conditions, but the more efficient ones will be smaller. However the difference is quite small.
A decent fast MPPT controller will be more efficient than a PWM controller, especially in cloudy and/or colder weather. If you can find away to tilt the panel rather than keep it flat all the time, that adds a lot to the efficiency.
