Hi Funsters . . . . I am going to buy a Solar Panel to use as a trickle charger to help keep starter battery alive over winter.
I have been advised to get 40 watt panel and a controller . . . . my question is My Benimar Anthus control panel seems to have 'Solar Panel' operation listed. Can anyone confirm that I can connect Solar panel to this control panel to keep battery charged or is it better to keep it independent?

Any help would appreciated

It would appear you can but if its a free standing panel, for ease I would connect direct to battery.
Also, a 40w panel isn't going to give much in winters low sun and short hours and there are going to be a lot of sunless days too where you'll get nothing. .
