Maybe this is a stupid question but by electroblock uit has a plug in labelled solar regulator.

Does this plug in offer a direct route to the Battery for the output from a solar regulator ?or
Does the Electroblock have a solar regulator within it and you wire the solar panel in directly ?

Help appreciated

Schaudt sell a solar regulator that is plug and play to that socket, you wire the solar panel to it, they do both types. LRM 1218 is the MPPT and LR 1218 is the PWM one.

There is no solar regulator in the EBL, but it does make an easy way of connecting to the batteries. You need to check on the EBL diagram that Pin2 goes to the starter battery older EBL's like the 99 didn't. You can connect any solar regulator just need a plug housing and pins they are Mate'N'Lock.

Thanks for the replies. I suspected it would be a regulator input. Its only a year old. Here is the WD

I wired a votronic solar regulator straight into the back of the ebl119 as the front connections do not pass through to the starter battery and they are 15a fused so only work for an array up to 220w of the top of my head although you can swap this out for a 20a fuse if you want to push the boundaries slightly.
There are three chunky wires coming out the labelled back which you can unscrew slightly, put in your wires from the solar controller and re-tighten so very easy to do. The third wire being the positive trickle feed to starter. If your array is within limit the advantage of going through the front for +ve and-ve to leisure battery is that you can get readings of input if you have the optional display.

That’s how I did mine, nice and easy.

My van has the EBL 220. Same plug connection.
As stated you need a seperate regulator. Mine came with the LR1218 and did the job fine.
However as we plan to do a lot more off grid, I did change it to Votronic MPPT as recommended by several on here, to gain that bit of extra power.

If you decide to go solar, I have the LR1218 hanging around that you can have for a sensible price.
