there is a total solar eclipse on the morning of the 20th March. In the UK it will be 90% coverge. The further north the better. This is going to be the best eclipse in the UK until 2090 and I for one won't be around to see that.

On and off for many years.
Should be well worth watching. There are a lot of cruise ships going to the area of the totality - I asked Martin if he would like to do that as an early significant birthday gift but he didn't. I'd like to see all the cruise ships lined up and following the path of the eclipse!

Interesting news. I'll do a bit of research on times.

I ran a check on the NASA Solar Eclipse pages http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/solar.html to check the times and Partial Eclipse factor. I put in Glasgow for location and it shows another significant partial eclipse, 12th August 2026.
Glasgow 20th March, partial eclipse starts 8.29 Max. 9.34 Ends 10.42 Factor 0.937
Birmingham 20th March, partial eclipse starts 8.25 Max. 9.31 Ends 10.40 Factor 0.891

For 12th August 2026 Glasgow Factor is 0.917
For 12th August 2026 Birmingham Factor is 0.913

Since these last figures are similar to what you posted, Eamless, there's hopefully every chance of seeing the 2026 one.
Hope the info and link are useful.
