thinking of getting a solar panel to keep my 115amp leisure batt topped up. i have an elektroblock 104-3 fitted in my camper which states 10a on front its in german 1st question does this mean it charges the batt 10 amps an hour and 2nd question does the solar panel need to be connected to the batt directly or to the elektroblock ?

I have a 160A solar panel through a Votronic MPPT 165 feeding into the solar connection on my elektroblock. This setup works really well and by mid morning my 115ah battery is fully charged again.
I gained a lot of knowledge from searching this forum & from this website http://www.aandncaravanservices.co.uk/lr-1218.php
It advises against connecting directly to the battery as it confuses the elektroblok.
10amp is the max input current at any time.

You can connect it either way, if you have an LCD panel that displays current if you connect it via the EBL it will be connected through the shunt and the display will take into account the solar input.

monocrystalline Panels are smaller than polycrystalline panels and they are more efficient in low light levels. My panel is only 1480 x 670 x 35 mm

Does your Electroblock have a display panel that shows how charged the battery is? I mean in percent, not just the voltage. If it does, the measurement is made as the amps pass through the Electroblock, which has a 'shunt' inside for this purpose.

If you wire the solar amps direct to the battery, the Electroblock can't measure it, so it won't take it into account when calculating the percentage charge. Some people think that's no problem, but others really like to know an accurate charge level.
