Hi All - I have had a 150w truma solar panel fitted to our “new to us” 2015 Adria Sonic Supreme last week. After it was fitted the leasure battery was reading 13.1v and engine battery was 12.8v (I had the engine battery charger installed also).
I have not used the van or turned anything on and I went out later this afternoon and noticed the leisure battery was reading 12.7v and the engine battery 12.4v, so something can’t be right.
also I noticed that when I switched the control panel off and you hear the 12v switch click, the orange light on the panel switch flashes and I haven’t noticed this before, I am sure when it’s off there are no lights.
I have just connected back to main EHU and the reading obviously dramatically increase, so I have left it on for now.
Does anybody have any ideas what’s going on please!?

Just to add..,,the readings were after the us had gone in. So maybe worth seeing what happens in the morning?

A fully charged lead acid battery will read 12.8 v

your 13.1 must have been when solar had been charging and it hadnt had time to "settle" fully

12.4 on the cab battery ? do you have any drain on it, alarm, ? etc etc

You say "engine battery charger" do you have a brand name?

Hi - thanks for the replies, I also got a text reply back from the fitter who said that the readings seem ok when there is no charge.
yes, have an alarm and tracker fitted which he also mentioned would be taking power albeit nominal from the engine battery.
sorry, I don’t know what make the charger is or if I’m using the right terminolog! essentially the solar also keeps the engine battery topped up.
hopefully it’s just a bit of paranoia on my part…..

its all fine, if in doubt put a volt meter across them each day and put your mind at rest

We had a Battery Master by Van Bitz fitted which uses the excess charge from the leisure battery and sends it to your engine battery keeping it topped up during long periods of not driving the van when there is a drain from the alarm etc (y)

12.7 / 12.8v is fully charged for a lead acid after settling. the 12.4v has shown a discharge but aver how long a period and how much sun has been about for the solar to top it up at a 1amp charge.

for info,
