Hi all is it true if you have a sog toilet you don’t need blue tabs or liquid ?

the mixture of effluent in the tank starts to break down with aerobic digestion and if set up right, the sog extracts the fumes to the outside for everyone else to enjoy. Much more friendly to a a deodorant like thetford green or bio washing liquid. Then you also benefit from a slightly better smell when emptying the cassette full of slurry

we too use a cap of bio liquid in ours which seems to work and much more green can be dumped anywhere

No charcoal filter with a roof vent but never noticed any smell.

aha the mythical carbon filter, we have all heard it is great, but few choose to renew it every few weeks, more regularly if you use the van a lot

They recommend changing yearly
for a van used for a few weekends or the 2 week summer holiday. Use it more and the filter needs changing more regularly

I was party to a discussion with Bailey a few years back where a customer claimed on the warranty for multiple items. Bailey's first question is "how much is the van used?". Then they go on to say a van that is almost lived in all summer is outside the scope of the warranty. They officially expect their vans to be used for no more than 3 maybe 4 weeks in total per year.

That shocks some people and others think I am taking the pee. I dare you to get a straight answer from a dealers. You generally only find out when the warranty is declined

The ones that vent through the floor or the door have a filter(expensive) The roof venting ones don't.

1. Hang 12v (or rechargeable) fan in bathroom pointing at window.
2. Open Window.
3. Take a dump.
4. Wash hands and leave.
5. Return later and close window.

Admittedly never used had a SOG but looked into it and the apparent hassle of fitting plus cost for a 5 minute "Event" seems pointless....

PS. The amount of beer I drink, it needs emptying every 1-2 days....

We have a SOG, never use any Chem in it in winter but when weather is hot it gets a cap full of bio washing liquid.

What does the filter do?

Removes the pong from the air being extracted from the unwholesome contents of the cassette that's being vented into the outside world.

Ok so has no impact on the inside of the Van, just neighbours and passers by?

Has a big impact on the inside of the van in that the pong is sucked out of the cassette to the outside world rather than being released into your van when you open the blade.

I mean the filter only. Understand about airflow, just if the filter is for your benefit or others.

Yours and your neighbours. You don’t want the pong drifting back in or affecting your neighbours. Roof venting models don’t have a filter and seem to disperse the pong naturally.

SOG makes using the bog a lot nicer, very effective bit of kit.

Removing the filter can maybe deter the French from parking within a foot of you as they normally do. :ROFLMAO:
I've found that playing Rule Brittania and Land of Hope and Glory loudly as I sing along usually works well. Followed by The British Grenadiers, I'm a male voice choir member so take every opportunity to keep in practice. I might soften my approach to singing Cantique de Jean Racine (in French) if they're particularly nice. :p
