I have two small 3 pin electrical sockets in my van, one in each side locker (outside). Just wondering what they could be for as I've never seen a plug that would fit in them

W4 ?

I'll post a picture tonight. It is possible that they have been fitted by a previous owner, the van has a few extras fitted and all electrics have been professionally fitted, the radio even has a switch to turn it on from either car or hab batteries, LED lights in all lockers and struts on locker doors as well, all lights inside are LEDs too.

Pictures as promised. I've no idea what these are for except they are 12v.
I may use the supply for something else.

Since 2008 & many years tugging
They are odd ones, not seen those before, obviously fitted by the previous owner, definitely not from W4. If you want to make use of power in the garage I would change them for sockets that tie in with ones the rest of the van.

Could have been sockets for charging e-bikes or keeping medical equipment going...?

More than toes wet now!
To ensure that the polarity remains the same. They are advertised as being "non reversable".
Would the "D" shape of the plug \ socket not achieve that without the need \ expense of a third pin?:confused:

Mmmm sounds like a previous owner had something fitted as one of the side lockers has been modified to accept something (unknown to me) nothing that can't be undone.
This van has had 3 owners, the last before me bought it in March 2017, then suffered a triple heart bypass, so put it back up for sale through Bundesvan in April 2017 till I bought it.
Like has been said, maybe a previous owner had a medical item that needed higher power output.

Ha !

I found previous owner on here, these sockets are 20 amp on ring main in van fitted by owner. He used them for his Ring tyre inflator, hence one socket in each side cupboard.
