Sockets in a Burstner. What do you stick in 'em? (1 Viewer)

Afternoon folks,

In an effort to maximise the 12v output in our Burstner Aviano, I've come across two sockets that are new to me.
My question to you knowledgeable folks is, what to stick in 'em? What are they for?
Can something be inserted into them which would allow me to use my existing stock of' ordinary' 5v type plugs.

The first photo is a shot of under our kitchen cupboard. What is the socket beside the 3 pin mains socket.

Picture 2&3 shows a socket on the dash. What is it for and, am I right in saying, at 12v, the 180watts equals a max ampage of 15amps.

Top could be a 12v Hella socket I think. Motorcycles have them. You can buy a converter to 5v USB. Like this

Bottom one is a normal car cigarette lighter type. You can use an adaptor to convert into a 5v USB.

Beware. Cheap ones can often get hot so keep an eye on them once in use - at least for the first couple of times

I think the round one in the first picture is for a German fitting - TV maybe?

When we had a Burstner I think Vanbitz changed the fitting so that it served a purpose.

You are right about the amps.

Bottom one looks like a Hella/DIN socket.
Plugs readily available.
Similar to a cig lighter socket but much more secure and rated at 15 amp.... There's also a 20amp version.
First pic, not sure. Hard to judge size.

the socket beside the 3 pin plug socket is the 12 v Hella type which is a much more secure version of the 12 volt cigar socket, there are plugs available which are convertible from one to the other so you can use the standard cigar sockets with the converter which goes over the brass connectors below the pin at the top. Most continental caravans have them. The metre pin is grabbed inside the socket so less likely to fallout.

You were right about the Hella (Didn't he play for Germany in the '66 Final)?

I've tried the one at the front. Although it looked nothing like the 'ordinary' Cigar type it worked (admittedly with the ign. 'On') We'll use that to charge the Laptop when on the move.

PLEASE BEAR IN MIND I CAN'T SEE DETAIL ON THIS LITTLE PHONE SCREEN. Is it not just the European 12v socket? You can get an adaptor from Halfords.

Sorry if daft answer. I have 3 in my van. (sockets not answers).

Think you have all the answers above.
Cab /fiat sockets are standard cigarette sockets and need ignition turned on.
Rear ones are Hella/Din and plenty of adaptors and plug in USB devises available. The fitting on these are better and on some leads like my 12v TV I changed the plug to suit.

I’ve binned all my Hella sockets and swapped these in, much neater now.

True, Hella plugs are properly designed electrical connectors. Cigarette-lighter sockets are a bodge, not designed as a connector, with all kinds of flaws. Unfortunately they are an extremely popular bodge, so we just have to make the best of it.

Some plugs have a removable collar, and can work in both types of socket

Yes I’ve got one like that and I thought it was linked to the batteries but it doesn’t work with ignition on either. The top one might also be like my original sockets. The caravan man sold me a euraplug for those it fits but I haven’t connected anything to it yet
