Hi All

Here is yet another new motorhomer (if that is an acceptable title).

Not got a van yet but our Bailey (yes after reading many posts on many forums we actually chose a Bailey) 79/6 goes into production middle of March and hope to get it before Easter.

Bit of a step up from the Corsa I currently drive but figured they both have 4 wheels so how hard can it be And it is under 8 metres long so only slightly longer (maybe a touch wider also but whose counting).

Main reason for getting it is to widen our scope for walking our 2 little dogs, a 10 month old very active Weimariner bitch and her 20 month old Brother who weighs in at a little over 6 Stone (hope his sister doesn't grow quite so large).

Hope to enjoy sharing many (hopefully positive) experiences with you all as we progress through this new experience

Gerby

Totally agree.
See an item and walk away. Think about it and decide. Chances are you'll cut your costs by 70%. We've all done it and got loads that we don't or won't use.

Enjoy your new van. We had a Bailey alutech caravan before our motorhome. It was perfect and had no problems with it at all.

Welcome along Gerby.
We also travel with 2 dogs (black labs) and they love it, having the dogs was a big factor in getting the motorhome.
Don't worry about your choice of motorhome, you'll find horror stories for every manufacturer if you search on the internet, the main thing is it suits your needs, enjoy it (y)

Hi all

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Jeff & Terry, the 79/4 is same length but I think that's where the similarity ends, we have gone for no fixed bed as it maximises room for the dogs to run amok (and probably cause expensive damage but whatever hey it's only money )

Here is our little girl in Christmas mode

And our (slightly) bigger boy who wasn't so keen to get into the Christmas spirit

Welcome to a wonderful phase of your life. You will never look back.:)

Hi from fellow newbies
We used to run a Bailey Caravan for 14 years that is ready to go now in part ex for a 2007 motorhome

We plan a few rallies in this country and a nice long trip to our usual haunts but adding Portugal to France and Spain

Hope you have fun and we might see you around

@Gerby A slightly belated welcome from the NE !

After many enjoyable years of towing 2 Bailey caravans (not at the same time I hasten to add) I would have given serious consideration to sticking with the brand if they'd been available when I switched to motorhomes back in 2009.

Hi' thanks for the welcome from all, finally got around to subscribing so time to start with all the real questions (hope I don't bore you all too much).

They are due to start building my new baby next week so hope there are no hold ups as I am hoping to pick it up the same time as my sister picks hers up and that one is already finished (she is waiting for April to get full months tax as her first trip isn't till Easter).

Due to start Motorhome build Monday just gone (getting excited) rung dealer Tuesday to check all OK (excitement building) found out it's a week behind so not starting till next Monday (excitement now replaced with grumpiness).

Turned to missus for consoling and understanding who just said she hadn't noticed any change as "apparently" I am always grumpy.

I get a feeling that if I take my partner to one more Motorhome shop without actually having one I may need to change the model to a one berth, still every cloud has a silver lining as they say ;)

Stupid boy Pike! Take her to the ones where they sell clothing, too ! and peferably with a good cafe. Jackson's of Old Arley gets both our votes.

That's a great idea though I never realised you could get clothes for motorhomes now!

Latest update, not good, have rung dealer to check if the build had started on the new date of yesterday and guess what, it is now due to start build either end of week or more likely early next week:mad:

Can someone please confirm that Bailey are an actual company and not some fictional entity created to drive me slowly insane so my wife can get me sectioned (not sure why she needs to as I gave up trying to find my marbles years ago)
