I'm not... far too many people out there driving about totally oblivious to the rules and regs and law appertaining to the vehicle they are driving.
Point taken chaps....to be honest, being an owner driver with a 44t tractor unit and 45' trailer, I've not ventured out into the 3rd lane for many years except when I'm over 9'6" wide, and roadworks dictate I have to straddle lanes.

I know trailers arent permitted of any description but tbh I did think it was an over 3.5t vehicle limit on 3rd lane.

Doesnt really effect me when I'm driving the moho as i dont go into lane 3 period.

Its refreshing to see that there are so many moho drivers who know the law so thoroughly though. You know what they say...every day is a school day

In my defence, looking at the link posted, the second point describing vehicles not allowed in outside lane states:

a goods vehicle having a maximum laden weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes but not exceeding 7.5 tonnes, which is required to be fitted with a speed limiter

Surely I'll get some brownie points for being partially correct?

We left North Notts at 07:30 yesterday, bound for the in-laws in South Kent. We were expecting the worst but the journey was easy: A1, A14, M11, M25, M20. All flowing very well.

Lots of caravans, many PVCs, some motorhomes. But far less than I was expecting.

Furthermore in my defence....I didnt really scrutinise the picture but just read the headline, saw 3 white boxes and came to the assumption without studying the picture, that the journalist responsible for the article was indeed correct in their description...which they weren't. So although technically wrong, but partially right in the subsequent reference to the law, I should have looked closer at the photo.
I never thought a newspaper would be inaccurate in their reports?
I'm trying to redeem myself here:rolleyes:

We have walked through or past 3 campsites near us today in Cornwall. Saw 2 touring caravans in 1, otherwise deserted.

Well I am really pleased I’m away, in Norfolk. Just been sitting outside in rather dull but warm weather at one of our regular spots. No traffic jams or heavy traffic. Site booked for Monday and Tuesday and again Friday and Saturday, bring it on.

I second that. Spent this morning in Cromer, Blickling Hall tomorrow and Sheringham Park on Tuesday.

Most of us have bought a house but not many are experts on the law regarding property
Your point being??? You won't kill anybody driving your house up the M6 because you don't know the law on house property.!!!!!
This is a moho forum..
NOT a house ownership forum

It’s legal upto 7.5tonne. What is worrying is that some people are driving motorhomes around and don’t know the law.
Thats because they don't know what payload means and are so puzzled by that everything else is ignored. Nobody on here though.

Easy journey to Dorset from Essex round the M25 and down the M3 today even with a closure of part of the M4. On our own on a decent CL tonight, maybe 2 more tomorrow although they are limiting to 3 pitches at the moment.

Nope, because a motorhome is not a goods vehicle..........have you never seen an 12t rv whizzing up the fast lane at 70mph?

The hard shoulder is clear wouldn’t it have been quicker to use that
Don’t know, wasn’t there! ;)

Probably it would, but it looks as though the photo shows the tail end of the traffic so the emergency vehicle may well have been running in the main lanes up to that point.

No.....but I wasnt suggesting a moho was a goods vehicle, I was explaining (or excusing) my spurious initial suggestion.
Anyway, a 12t RV, goods vehicle or anything else with wheels plated at 12t whizzing up the outside lane at 70mph is proper irresponsible! Wonder what the stopping distance of a 12t RV is:oops:

I'm afraid they dont regard the rv any different to their car, I'm sure we have all been overtaken by a motorhome/rv/caravan when we were already doing 70, people have their own level of risk which can never be rationalized 🤔

2o year ago I used to drive a 7.5 tonne truck that was plated at 7490 kg, which meant it could do 70 mph, and use lane 3, happy days😁
