surely if you fit a carbon dioxide alarm near the floor of your motorhome this would solve the problem of having exhaust fumes pumped into your motorhome ? anyone confer ?

A carbon dioxide alarm wont do much....exhaust gas is carbon MONOXIDE.
Carbon dioxide is the stuff that puts the fizz in lemonade.

Carbon monoxide isnt the gas allegedly used anyway, the gas used is a narcotic or aneasthetic gas.

But it dont happen anyway so no problem.

Wouldn't it be funny if these low lifes where pumping in laughing gas to rob people - a bit like the scene from the pink panther when they where trying to kill clueso an everyone was laughing :rofl::rofl: I shouldn't laugh - its not funny its my warped mind (y)

If there were such thing as a carbon DIOXIDE detector, it would work brilliantly due to the fact carbon DIOXIDE is the main constituent of vehicle exhaust gas.
Unfortunately, it is carbon MONOXIDE detectors which are available and carbon monoxide is nearly non existent in exhaust gases from modern vehicles.
The main hazard from modern exhaust gases is asphyxiation rather than fast carbon monoxide poisoning.

Besides, no detector will save you from that bottle of wine!

Why doesn't Jim just block any thing with gassing in it watt a lode of:swear2: if they used car exust to gas you it would have to be a pre cat car and then it wouldn't be gassing it would be murder.
and co2 asfixates and doesn't poison and as for narcotic gas they would need a tanker full of it.
if they want to rob you thale just rob you end off hit you over the head and take watt they want.
stay sober in your van till safely on a site or just don't live home and sell the van
every week theirs one of this gassing :spam:

Don't be put off by the responses to your second post on this Forum.:) As you may guess this topic has "previous" here! If you want to spend a happy few hours one evening just search for "gassing".

Where did you find that little snippet ?

Carbon monoxide
Carbon monoxide poisoning is the most common type of fatal air poisoning in many countries.[21] Carbon monoxide is colorless, odorless and tasteless, but highly toxic. It combines with hemoglobin to produce carboxyhemoglobin, which is ineffective for delivering oxygen to bodily tissues. In the U.S. 60% of carbon monoxide is caused by on road vehicles

Carbon dioxide (CO2)
Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas. Motor vehicle CO2 emissions are part of the anthropogenic contribution to the growth of CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere which is believed by some scientists to play a part in the normal cycle of climate change[citation needed]. Motor vehicles are calculated to generate about 20% of the European Union's man-made CO2 emissions, with passenger cars contributing about 12%.[28] European emission standards limit the CO2 emissions of new passenger cars and light vehicles. The European Union average new car CO2 emissions figure dropped by 5.4% in the year to the first quarter of 2010, down to 145.6 g/km.[29]

Ok Papajohn.

If burning a hydrocarbon doesn't produce CO2 and water, what does it make then?
And why are cars taxed on their carbon dioxide emissions?

Ours is 99g per km. 99 grams is a s**tload of CO2 by volume!

Typical proportions of gases in a petrol engine exhaust_

Nitrogen 71%
Carbon Dioxide 14%
Water vapour 12%
Nitrogen oxides less than 0.25%
Carbon monoxide less than 0.5%
Hydrocarbons less than 0.25%

Approximately!

In comparison to carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide is a major part of the exhaust gasses.

CO2 is a greenhouse gas which allegedly depletes the ozone layer.
CO is a poisonous gas which depletes life.

The power that be want to reduce alleged global warming caused allegedly by CO2.....not deaths caused by carbon monoxide...which is the reason for being penalised for driving a big thirsty car.

Very easy solution to the gassing worry - do wht I do:

The hab door has vents at the bottom - keep them open.
The roof has sky lights - keep them open.

So IF!!!!!! I get gassed, the gas is either lighter or heavier than air, right?

I don't really need to finish this explanation, do I lol!

Just buy a very large hound that files it's own teeth, and an equally large shotgun. (y)(y) What the dog misses, you just shout PULL, and get yourself. :)

Worried about being robbed?

Be like me and have nothing worth stealing...

The last burglar to break into my Hymer took a look around, shook his head and left me a tenner out of sympathy.

As all the "known" offenders are eastern europeans, they would be using their Trabants.
They just need to park next to you for a few minutes...
Here are the culprits on their way to rob British vans in a local aire......

The main component of exhaust gas (other than nitrogen and its oxides) is carbon dioxide created by the correct and complete combustion of a hydrocarbon fuel and is the greenhouse gas produced by motor vehicles. Carbon monoxide is formed as a result of incomplete combustion and is measured as part of the emissions check at the MoT. It forms less than 1% of a modern engines exhaust output.

Has anyone been robbed by eastern Europeans with an A-frame?
Or what about the new technique of drowning the motorhome's occupants by connecting a hose from the grey water outlet to an open window whilst parked in a disabled parking space?::bigsmile:
Apparently they drown you just enough so you don't die and simply wake up with a sore head!

The drowning technique is real, honest!

I heard it from a friend of a friend who met a couple in a Swift who claimed they were robbed on an aire during a thunderstorm. They slept right through it and woke up soaking wet with all their valuables washed away down their gas drop vents!:reel:
