SNOWBIRDS NEED VISA'S

We have spent 4 to 6 months away in Spain for the winter in the past, but fear now that without a Visa this will not be possible as it looks as if our so called European Friends are going to enforce the new ruling of a maximum of 90 days stay in Europe in any 6 month period and before you say that you can nip back to the UK for a day or so, I'm afraid under the new rules that will not count.

We had a 4 month trip booked for this year to return in June. OK shorten this to 3 months and still return in June then we can't go over again at the beginning of September.

Anybody have any ideas?????

There are no legal workarounds that I know of. It has disrupted the plans of many people here so if anyone does find a workaround I'm sure we'll all know about it soon enough. I'm always homesick after a couple of months so I'm not at all bothered by the 90 day restriction. Just picked this off of Farce Fool, posted by Gary Scott French customs will know how long you have been in the schengen area, here it is to start with the first stamp in passport showing date entered and most likely computerised too !!!!

90 in 180 planning

Has anyone started to work out their 90 in 180 yet? I'm thinking about getting over ASAP just to start the 180 off early - then when late summer comes around we are into our next 180 days. Would give us 90 days up to July then 90 after that .... my thoughts are (and i know we cant travel yet -...

Schengen travel from 1 Jan 2021

Sorry if this has already been discussed at length, but it's new to me. I had (wishfully) thought that the Schengen stopwatch would start counting from 1 Jan, but apparently it's already been going since early July this year! See screenshot of Gov.UK, primarily the second bullet.

You can apply for a non-lucrative visa valid for a year.
Although this is meant to be used if you want to become resident.
