On offer in Lidl today, well probably all week, but £19.99 a pair, sizes 70,80,90 and 100.

They certainly work. Since I bought a couple of pairs, one for the motorhome and one for the car we've not seen any snow.

Looking through their online food leaflet I see they have the Jamon Serrana, Spanish Ham in again at £40. Somebody was talking about this last year, was it Snowbird?

Almost the same as mine but mine are superior quality THULE chains......and cost 7 times Lidl price.

Says my Renault Master needs 235 model, so doubtful any of the sizes on offer would fit a motorhome ?

The last time these appeared I dashed straight out and found them in my local Lidl. But none of the sizes on offer would come anywhere near a motorhome.

Ok forgive the stupid question but what are these for... I'm assuming snow has to be pretty bad before they are even useful and roads are treated in the most part...

Fresh soft snow...not really needed.
compact snow.....aids grip.
heavily compacted, polished snow (virtually ice).....probably stuck without them
Ice.....very little chance without
black ice...no chance without.

They will only be used when needed as dry running on tarmac will wear the links in no time.

Not all roads get treated as snow falls.
i have seen buses sliding backwards into walls in our town centre when it gets bad....doesnt take long for fresh snow to become highly polished and like ice when the 'rev the nuts off it and i might get moving' numpties get loose.

the size needed for motorhome tyres is the same as many 4x4s so dont go expecting lightweight car chains to fit
in certain eu coutries snow chains or winter tyres are obligatory in winter

You need 16mm heavy duty links as a minimum for heavier vehicles like a MH.
