Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
We've just got back from a lovely weekend in Hawes together. We arrived Friday to lovely cold winter sunshine. I'd brought some rib eye steak , so after a good walk with Buster , and a quick pint at the pub, we spent the first night in .

Saturday was lovely , bright sunshine and freezing cold. The " earth as hard as iron, water like a stone...."
image.jpeg

We changed our plans and walked to Hardraw falls . Having lunch at the Green Dragon , instead of an evening meal, as planned . It was a lovely meal . Reasonably priced . Home cooked. Beautiful weather, crisp and fresh.

Snow was promised at 3 pm Saturday.
Snow started at 4pm. Plenty pubs in Hawes to go in. With open fires to keep warm. It would be rude not to go in them all. So we did, as usual. Hawes is a regular winter weekender for us. We love the place.

Sunday morning saw the snow nice and thick.

Another nice long walk to blow away the cobwebs . Fish and chips at Hawes chippy for lunch.

Another walk , then we set off home. I've done an album if anyone's interested in some lovely scenery etc. Here's the link.
HAWES.

Since 1964 Gosh that makes me feel old.
Lovely photo's, really uplifting at this time of year.

I simply cannot understand folks that lock their motorhomes or caravans away for the winter.

Neither can we. But they do.
It got to -6 on Friday night, but we were lovely and warm in Pug. The lowest it got inside was 18deg. The Webasto does its job perfectly.
This trip is the first -temp one we have done since Ralph built Pug.
You can't beat a freezing bright sunny day in the Dales.

You reach the waterfall via the Green Dragon then?

Did you park up at Dragon overnight ?

Yes. There's a link to the album with more pictures on , on the first post.
But here's some of the grounds. We didn't camp there, you can Ā£10 pp per night in a Motorhome. No hook up. We walked there , from Hawes.

The pubs great. Hardraw force, nothing special. Even though it was probably more forceful than usual , because of the rain over the past few weeks.
Ā£2.50 pp to go see it too.
It's at the back of the pub . In its garden so to speak. Not even a 5 min walk. But nothing to do with the pub anymore.
Here's Ralph on a pic so you can get an idea of the scale.

It's a garden size gate to the left. Not a barn gate.
