Agree with above, you need a decoder, or a telly that has a built in decoder. We use a maxview HD unit, because you can hide it away in cupboard!

I notice you said you have freeview. Unfortunately it is FREESAT you need . Have you got that facility built in to your TV. If not you need a separate Freesat box as noted above.

FWIW This is our setup, the decoder is a maxview mxl020HD unit, if you look behind the spotlight, you'll see the red dot, that's the IR Eye for the remote control:

The actual decoder lives in the cupboard attached to the ceiling:

We installed the controller in the back corner, where we sit for convenience (must tidy those wires up)

The maxview comes with 240v adaptor and a 12v plug connector, I simply used the 12v connector and cut off the plug, and hard wired it into the 12v loom in the van - a simple job! :D

Sadly our cello didn't have a built in satellite decoder, but brilliant in all other aspects! :D

What a load of faffing around, just for a TV! Whatever happened to the art of conversation or simply sitting quietly listening to music or reading a good book - much cheaper and definitely more fulfilling!

You don't have to turn the tv on, it's not compulsory, but sometimes it is a handy option. :)
