Having the same type of problem, got an update but needs a usb connection which ours doesn’t have. Also looking for somewhere or someone who repairs Snipe systems so hoping you get yours fixed and any information would be helpful

I had the same problem last night from Northern France. It eventually locked on ok to 28.2.
Haven’t tried doing the update yet as didn’t want to risk making things worse while I am away.

Sounds like a Snipe one, you do the update via a program you download from the Snipe site and connect your pc via a usb A to Be lead. The software needs XP it won't run in later operating systems.

If not looking on to Astra 2, try turning to Hotbird and if it locks on them change to Astra 2 it often works.
If it locks on but picture pixelated you can fine tune manually.

This has happened on the odd occasion with ours, we just find Astra 1 then try 2 and it locks on all the time. Will look at the update.

Ours did this when it was still under guarantee, so returned it to the supplier and it in our case it was a cable to the LNB internally that had broken. They repaired it, sent it back to us and it has worked fine since.

Are you waiting for the blue GPS light to stop flashing before starting the search?

Sounds obvious but have you a clear line of sight. Can’t get mine to lock on my driveway for that reason.

Have you checked the controller connecting wire (think it's the black one from memory) connection to the dish base?
Think the black and grey coaxial wires may be interchangeable (better check though). Is it worth trying to swap them over to see if the dish then aligns? If it does and you get no signal on the TV it may be the controller wire is faulty.
If it still doesn't work think it then points to either the dish or the controller.
What version of firmware is on the controller?

it finds astra 28.2 but instead of locking it says check other sat and off it goes then comes back to 28.2 again , when it finds it tv works ok for a few seconds then off it goes to search again. not at van so cannot tell what firmware is running at moment , the latest update on selfsat site is 19 0ct last year

I had a Snipe 1 on my last van that did that, when it found 28.2 I would turn it off as you can use the Snipe with the power off.

Are you downloading the update from a page that looks like this?
15897177196673349223574362667586.jpg

I've been having similar problems with the controller constantly "searching oth sat". I just updated using the download from www.selfsat.com and now it is locking on. Previously it never got as far as "checking", only fine tuning.
The version I have is snipe2-V20022
I think it has extra messages on the controller when it's finding the satellite and tuning in now. 15897177196673349223574362667586.jpg

yes I have dated 19th oct last year, its 2.5 years old bought from Germany , don't know weather to buy a snipe 3 and do a straight swap or bit the bullet and spend £1500 on a better system. I went for snipe 2 just for convenience in uk and northern France, but deep down I no the quality is not there with a snipe . I know I can use data for tv but in Europe 15 g isn't going to get me much tv.
The service and repair of snipe seems to be nil in uk cannot find a thing on the internet regarding repairs , so if I buy another in 2/3 years will I be in same boat.
