Like most drivers I was happy to hear a few months ago that the government had cancelled their plans to build any more new sections of these death traps, yet I have just read in the paper today that there are plans for another 300 miles on the table! What’s going on?

Yes, I would be terrified if I was stuck on the hard shoulder of a busy motorway, I can’t imagine the fear if I was stuck on a smart motorway!

Hope not. :( death traps.

Foreign lorry drivers were bad enough entering on ordinary ones, they were assassins on Smart ones.

I believe those that were already under construction would be finished. Personally I'm with the general opinion, rather have the queues than the death toll that is sure to ensue - and you'll still have the queues of rubber-neckers. Get rid of them all say I!

Stupid idea, and why they persist in putting barriers next to the left lane is beyond me. You really do have nowhere to go especially if disabled.

Where's Chris Grayling when we need him?

Unfortunately, because they are a cheap option to providing more road space, I cannot see this government. or any other. abandoning the idea easily.

Drove down the M3 smart section this afternoon 2 vehicles stopped, 1 an old RR.half on the inside lane half on the verge. No warning lights on the gantries, nothing to warn other drivers to change lane. Absolute nightmare if you break down.
